Thermometers are kept at airports ... pilots need this information when they're trying to land or take-off ... and these are close enough together for farmers ... AND the nearest full degree is accurate enough for these uses ... they're kept far enough from the tarmac as to not interfere with aircraft movements ... typically on an open grass field ...

Thermometers installed in the downtown area of a city is different ... it's asphalt roads, asphalt roofs and asphalt flower beds ... in some cases not even a tree or bush, certainly no grass ... so with this intense concentration of asphalt without any break at all where we see the UHI effect in her true glory ... 2 or 3ºC isn't much ... remember, it's already a sunny day for this to happen ... the little bit of extra temperature won't make it any sunnier ... climate remains the same ...

At present, China produces double the amount of CO2 as the US. However, they have 3 times the population. But they also lead in installing renewable energy.
