No point in having it then imo. Too easy to cheat and just parrot an answer that someone else is feeding you.

Edit: apparently Trump agrees because he told Fox he wasn't going to waste his time in a phone interview.

If it's to protect the people why are they still letting the moderator and audience gather together?

It's been done before and no one cheated like you like to cheat.
There has been virtual Presidential debates? Lol

Yes, in the 1960 election between JFK and RN they did it in two different TV studios, it was the third debate.

Why not have the question askers be virtual with the Republican question askers be live let them choose to wear a mask or not this is America

I bet Joe will be in in a full COVID garb. He may even put up a piece of plexiglass between him and the camera just to be safe. That would certainly impress the sheep that vote for him.

Because it never made headlines in 2016:

LOL...what commercial breaks are they referring to? BTW, Hillary was given the debate questions ahead of time in 2016. Democrats have no room to talk.
She was given one question for a town hall, not a formal debate.

Y’all acted like it was the end of the world yet we have numerous episodes of Trump cheating at actual debates and silence.
