Russians send missile to Tartus base, Syria - More details, photos
"Russia has confirmed it has sent an S-300 air defence missile system to its naval base in Syria's port of Tartus.
Defence ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said the purpose of the system was to guarantee the security of the base from the air."

Russian officials say its purely for defence. Thoughts?

Russia and Iran want ports. With control of key ports they can control world trade. Russia and Iran and a few others
constitute the modern day AXIS powers of the Fourth Reich

The same weapons were given/sold to Iran. This way they can protect ISIS and keep Assad in power.

When the US has weak or zero leadership the world suffers!

Russia already has that port. And they've never flexed to control world trade.

On the other hand when the west overthrew the duly elected President and his party in the Ukraine one of the key plays was to take over the Russian ports in Crimea.

NATO and the west are the ones that are flexing. We're the ones doing all the threatening. Putin's just giving fair warning.

Pootin lovers have a lot of faith in an air defense system that is relatively easy to defeat and neutralize.

Explain. I have checked into this system. Kiss my ass Camp. And if we think we can pull another NATO MISSION over Syria get ready.

"The S-300 is regarded as one of the most potent anti-aircraft missile systems currently fielded.[9] An evolved version of the S-300 system is the S-400 (NATO reporting name SA-21 Growler), which entered limited service in 2004."

Argue facts Camp.

They make their own facts. Waste of time to try to argue with them, they know pretty well, they are lying.

The fact is that the system only has a specific number of missiles it can launch at incoming targets, whether they be manned or unmanned winged aircraft or unmanned cruise missiles. Simplified, the weapons only have x amount of bullets in the gun. The system is mobile, so it is able to be hidden until it paints itself. Once it launches its position becomes known and can be targeted. Russian systems have been taken out this way since Vietnam days. Our forces simply overwhelm their system with questionable targets and destroy their system as they waste resources shooting down false targets. Cost us a bunch of money to send all those fake targets at them, but we control the sky when it's done. Works every time.

Illusion. The US lost thousands of aircraft in Vietnam and has never engaged S-200/300/400.
