PMEL senior scientist, Dr. Mike McPhaden is presiding over his first American Geophysical Union (AGU) meeting as AGU President. 2010 The Meeting of the Americas is being held in Iguassu Falls, Brazil during the week of August 9. Dr. McPhaden will lead a Town Hall meeting on "Communicating the Science of Climate Change".

Dr. McPhaden was elected President-elect of the AGU in 2008 and took over as President for a 2-year term beginning in 2010. He is the director of the Tropical Atmosphere Ocean project at PMEL

I saw a study of 2 degree per century spikes (other than coming out of ice ages) in the last Myears. All of them fell back and none led to runaway warming even though most were much stronger than the present (adjusted) spike. just more evidence that the earth's climate is self regulating and not sitting on some 'tipping point'

Well Ian, are you able to read? The person in question is the new head of the AGU, not someone on the Board of Directors. As Walleyes clearly stated. And, yes, he did a direct and intentional lie.

Bullshit. There is no way that you can flat out state that the present head of the AGU is an Enlish Major, and has no research experiance and pass it off as a mistake. Dr. McPhadden recieved a BS in Physics, Magna Cum Laude, and a Phd in Physical Oceanography.

He has a research record to be envied.
