Not if they have minimum wage jobs. In my concern for the poor, I draw a sharp distinction between the working poor and the underclass.
The working poor play the game by the rules, but win none of the prizes. The members of the underclass supplement their welfare checks with the gains of criminal activity. They have litters of illegitimate children that decent married people are expected to support with their tax money on welfare.

It's simple, they work for their money. That's their tax. They do the work a government worker would do. The concept of pay for work escapes you.

ByAndy CerdaWith Congress considering legislation that would extend the tax cuts passed during the first Trump administration, a majority of Americans continue to say taxes should be increased, not decreased, for large businesses and corporations. They also say this for household income over $400,000 a year.
More than six-in-ten U.S. adults (63%) say tax rates on large businesses and corporations should be raised. This includes 34% who say they should be raised a lot. Another 19% say large businesses’ tax rates should be lowered, while 17% say they should be kept the same as they are now.
About six-in-ten (58%) say tax rates on household income over $400,000 should be raised, including 23% who say these tax rates should be raised a lot. Much smaller shares say taxes on higher-income households should be lowered (19%) or kept the same (21%).

Democrats are overwhelmingly supportive of raising taxes on these groups, while Republicans are more divided.

Again. Youre just an emotional wreck unable to put a rational thought together. The bottom 50% include virtually ALL service workers, distribution workers, light truck drivers, health and personal care aides, waiters, waitresses, kitchen staff, Walmart employees, McDonald employees, Child care workers, and almost all retial and food workers that are not the actual manager.
That's the bottom half dipshit. There are 3% of the US on TANF which is welfare and most are mentally disabled. 40% of the kids in this nation are born into low income families and almost 20% of kids are born in to poverty and almost all of them live in homes with working parents.
Look, I get you dont want to face facts, that half of America works hard and has no money after basic expenses because you like to think you are better than someone. Youre not. In fact you are on social security that YOU didnt pay for.

Get the federal government to remove the other taxes that all citizens ay like the gasoline tax as just one. That would improve the situation for the lower classes. And there are more.

The best thing you can give the poor is an education, an education to the same standard our better than the rich.
Looks at Europe oaths one, the best Universities are highly funded by the Government especially for undergraduate programs.
Entry to these institutions is done purely on education results basis only.
Courses are free or couple of thousand a year even for medicine, all courses... If you are poor the the government gives grants (means tested) so you can attend. Some get part time jobs to supplement their living (first question we ask our bar tenders in the pub, what you studying (they are all in civil engineering)).
Where I live is a huge medical device manufacturing area (West of Ireland), we make 70% of the heart stents in the world. So all of education institutions have biotech courses to support them.. They work with these companies with placements and feedback.
The invest more in schools in poorer areas, they want to help the succeed but access to the third level courses is done by merit alone. i.e. exam scores.
The trades (i.e. plumber, carpenters...) are done different, you get an apprenticeship first. You get job as a apprenticeship plumber, some become labours on sites and then apply... Very popular right now, construction companies are actively severing guys to do apprenticeships...
This is how you bring kids born to low income up to middle income... It is not fool proof and you get a percentage fall off. Many who have been prison immediately go into apprenticeships right now. Buddy who running a big site locally said he has a number guys who have been in prison, says they are great, they are bit more mature and they to keep the head down more. The younger ones are bit more stuck to their phones (get distracted by them)...

You need to raise about $2.4T in personal income taxes just to be $2.0T short of next year's expenses (Trump's plan) in a way that allows people to also live a life.
How do you raise your $2.4T from income taxes between the two halves of earners? Bottom half and top half.
Today we get 98% from the top 50% as it is circled in red on the chart to the right but as you can see they earn almost all the income and certainly 100% of the discretionary income after you put bare bones living expenses against $23k vs 137k.
What is "fair" to you?
I predict a long line of right-wingers suggesting we take $200B from people making $23K still leaving a $1.6T deficit without regard to how one would live. But maybe they will surprise me with some thoughtful reflection on income tax burdens and living with low means.
