Rick Perry "Taken Aback"

you can assume anything you want I guess. It was a debate PUT ON BY THE TEAPARTY.
so does that mean ONLY PEOPLE IN THE TEA PARTY can attend? give us all a break.

Would you go to a debate put on by the Communist Party? (I know, that's likely a bit too abstract for you to understand - mea culpa in advance).

I wouldn't, but some might..they might want to to see what they have to say. (but that's likely a bit too abstract for you to understand)...
And I am not going to apologize for your stupidity, now run along little one.

Actually it's not, I can see why curious people would go to such a meeting; it's not likely that the willfully ignorant would do so.

not to be too rude....

I just watched it again and saw the same thing. A Libertarian giving a very typical Libertarian answer about how people will take care of people without needing a big government bureaucracy to do it. The audience cheering. A few idiots saying something stupid. The audience tittering. Not quite sure how that proves that everyone who is against big government and higher taxes wants 30 year olds with cancer to die...but hey, tell me how I'm wrong.

And don't worry about being rude, Jillian...if someone think that two idiots shouting out a debate should be indicative of every person who supports Tea Party ideals....then they're one of those idiot liberals I was talking about earlier. But don't worry...I won't believe that every liberal is an idiot just because they are. :)

Jillian is not stupid, Just Highly partisan, and dishonest.

She knows full well that if the situation was reversed she would be screaming that you can not blame the whole Crowd for what a couple of idiots said.

You seem to have forgotten that it was a Tea Party event, and there was an awful lot of cheering.

nice dodge. AGAIN: if a few dems are at an event and they cheer (NOTE: not everyone there was cheering), is it your contention that we can attribute that to all dems?

Must defend right wingers and blame dems.

where did i blame dems for this? and you should to read my first post in this thread and should apologize for claiming i defended them.

A few months ago I made a thread about somebody I know and their baby. His health care premiums went way up, to the point where he could no longer afford it-and this happened after his baby was diagnosed with a very serious (and expensive) illness-surprise, surprise, that is fatal without proper medical attention.

In my thread I asked what do people think of this? What do they think should happen? That's all.

Many right-wingers on these boards said while they felt bad, that death was an unfortunate part of life, and it happens. Most of these people, if not all claim to be pro-life btw, and many of them identify themselves as being tea part supporters.

The reason why I brought this up specifically is because the baby never had a chance to chose whether to get health insurance or not. And the baby's father (I don't really know the mother too well), had health insurance, has a full-time steady job, works his ass off, and this situation arises, and after doing all the right things-some members on the right on this message board just brushed it aside.

While you certainly can't use a wide brush and say ok all tea party members agree with what certain members of the audience believes, or their actions-you can say there is a portion of the tea party that does.

Apparently, the tea loons are a bit much even for governor perry...

Rick Perry 'Taken Aback' By Audience Cheering, Suggesting Society Should Let Uninsured Patient Die: Report

Texas Governor Rick Perry says he was "taken aback" by an incident that occurred at Monday night's Republican presidential debate after U.S. Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) was asked if a man who is sick should be left to die because he is uninsured, according to NBC News.

In addressing the situation that unfolded Perry reportedly said, "We're the party of life."

Just for the record, most members of the TEA Party are not 'loons'.... any more than most liberals. :eusa_angel:

What I find strange is the seemingly desperate left who seem to think that repeating lies will make them true.

Repeating lies does not make them true, but it does achieve one aim. It provides our politicians with the cover they require to keep serving their own interests while we pay the price for it.

why do you keep lying about what the rightwingnuts say, hon? they cheered and stomped for people dying to the point where it was offputting even to parry.

I think the problem with both this question and the death penalty question was that they were both asked in such a loaded way that were offensive.

"How dare you let this person die". Well, no, he kind of made his own bed by not doing the responsible thing and getting insurance.

I don't. I'm just bored with repeating myself in each new thread about the same shit. Do I approve of someone suggesting that some uninsured person said 'let him die'? No. And I have already said so. And I have already made clear my opposition to the DP being used to any inmate who is educationally subnormal.

But.... what I find equally as ridiculous as those who said 'let him die' are those who seek to use the words of a few to ridicule a large movement.

Fact is, most TEA Party members are no more 'loon' than you are. You may not like that fact, but that doesn't make it any the less a fact.

Frankly, I am bored with the bullshit that passes for politics in this country. People on USMB bitch at me because I rarely post anything serious.... is it any fucking wonder? Why would anyone waste their time trying to bring logic and reason into threads full of partisan bullshit.

Both sides.... you are not interested in honesty. Y'all prefer to lie and be lied to. It is no wonder this country is in such a fucking mess.... Y'all repeat whatever shit the media tell you without regard to the truth.

*Disclaimer: When I refer to 'you', I do not mean Jillian as an individual. I mean Republicans and Democrats. Y'all fucking piss me off.

Why do you moonbats keep spelling it 'parry"? You might think it's clever, but it really isn't.

One guy yelled "Yeah!" to a loaded question. Let's not read too much into it.

How about if the question was asked this way, "What if a guy who refused to buy insurance after living an unhealthy lifestyle found himself in a coma as a result of his bad lifestyle choices. Should we spend hundreds of thousands to extend his life?"

It becomes a lot less sympathetic, doesn't it?

Now, if you want to make the argument that health care should be a "right", and we should have universal, single payer coverage like Canada, that's a discussion worth having.

BUt no one is actually proposing that. Obama just mandated that everyone buy insurance whether they want it or not, and imposed a bunch of demands on businesses that are already struggling and wondering why no one is hiring.

first of all, that was the ONLY time i spelled it parry on this thread. i don't recall if i've spelled it that way elsewhere. but anyone who is informed and has a sense of humor knows why it's spelled parry.

as for health care... it doesn't have to BE a right for government to not let it's people die... it just has to be in the GENERAL WELFARE. look it up... that's a really, really important phrase.

don't blame the messenger... blame the blood thirsty tea loons.

Pretty much everything can be viewed as 'General Welfare'.... we do it "your way" (by that I mean the way of the Democrats), and we may as well just hand over every penny we earn and the government can provide housing, clothing, food, health, transport, and leisure activities for us all.

Happy now?

Both sides have their share of loons, and I'll denounce the ones on the right as quickly as the ones on the left.

Here's the thing. Everyone dies eventually. So the question is not whether the government should let people die, it's how much resources do you commit to staving off the inevitable.

A $20.00 antibiotic to cure a child's infection? Yup. Absolutely.

$50,000 a month to drag out terminal cancer where there is no hope of recovery? Maybe not so much.

The General Welfare means the welfare of everyone. Today we have a situation where Americans work until the end of June just to pay off their obligation to government. What you propose, they'd be giving 2/3rd of what they owe.

The problem with the "Welfare" mentality is that it takes what should be charity and calls it an "entitlement".

"He suffers from the Socialist Disease in it's worst form- the belief the world owes you a living." - Robert A. Heinlein.

Man it's sad to see how they have perverted the saying, General Welfare.

. We are in deep trouble in this country if this is how the people are being sold this and buying it.
And our freedoms from an overbearing and oppressive government is coming sooner than later with these types of perversions.

Think the coaching is starting to work.

Coach: You gotta start looking a bit more moderate Mr. Perry!
Perry: Okay..that means..I agree with them if they cheer dead people?
Coach: No no no no..you gotta say you were taken aback..
Perry: What's aback mean again?

how so? if a few dems act a certain way, does that say alot about the entire party?
