RFK Jr's vow to ban syrup sows concern among corn farmers in Trump heartland

He is appointed to the position for the people in representation of, and just like all that came before him (Michelle Obama and her healthy eating program for school's), he is going to do his job regardless of the possible money shifting involved or the feelings that get hurt.

And Michelle was condemned by the very same who will defend Kennedy's nanny state.

I did not defend Michelle.

True, but I don’t need government making that decision for me.
So just let corporations destroy you and your family, otherwise with no one to stand in the gap for you once you become an addict with no will power to control your addiction once they get you addicted ?

“In the farms and fields of Darke and Shelby counties in western Ohio, Donald Trump enjoys near-unfettered support. In the 5 November election, more than 80% of voters here backed the president-elect – the highest rates of any counties in Ohio.

But western Ohio is also prime corn growing ground, and with Robert F Kennedy Jr Trump’s pick to head the Department of Health and Human Services, many here may find themselves struggling if Kennedy is allowed to reshape America’s food industry to his liking.

In sharp contrast to Trump’s first administration, when Department of Agriculture officials and appointees worked closely with agriculture interests, Kennedy has vowed to ban high fructose corn syrup and seed oils, a move that would significantly reduce demand for a host of crops.”

Yet another example of the stupidity of Trump voters.
/—-/ Did you haves outrage for tobacco farmed when cigarettes were banned or taxed out of existence?
Why do you support a horrible product like high fructose corn syrup?

Most of Michelle's healthy meals ended up in the trash.
Agree, and it was a venture that she was in a losing situation on, because the problem wasn't taking it to the source like RFKJ will be doing.

/——/ There aren’t any supporters of high fructose corn syrup other than the farmers. Let them grow a different cash crop.

Because it's being addressed by Republicans, and you know his partisan ace can't stand anything a republican is going to do.

Nanny state. If there are no supporters then they would naturally have to. There are hundreds of things that are not the best for us. You want the government banning all of it?

Nanny state MAGA. Who would have thought.

It’s always been cheaper. My mom often used Karo corn syrup in lieu of maple syrup for our pancakes because it was cheaper and we were poor black children even though we were white.

Ad how long ago was that?

Not that it is relevant.

Maple syrup isn’t derived from sugar. It has natural sugar in it.

It is also a product controlled by a cartel to keep prices up.

True, but I don’t need government making that decision for me.

And yet the government makes a thousand other decisions for you from banning unsafe cars to limiting what speed you drive to what movies you can see, to what drugs you can take, so why not limit or ban corn syrup and its solids from killing you early just so that a pancake company can make an extra buck selling you fake syrup?

Frankly, I'd like better choices and better quality food in my supermarkets like they have in Europe with less preservatives and artificial coloring.

Statists think government should make all our decisions for us.

I'm amazed that any Democrats would fold their arms over in self-righteousness after the way they tried to force the vaccine on everybody by law. I guess it's only good when they do it.

Funny, nobody seemed concerned when Dr. Fauci banned education and Church congregations and civilization as we know it but Yahoo wants us to believe that Ohio farmers are in a panic over syrup.

No.

Politicians shouldn't be telling us how to eat.

I have to agree.... I do think it's a good idea to educate people about corn syrup though.
I mean it's available as a pure product from any grocery store people can buy it whenever they want. The idea of having it hiding in most of our food products is probably not a good idea. At the very least those who are using it should include a warning about how it affects human metabolism and could possibly lead to obesity.

Yeah exactly... Oh I'm sure there are a few farmers or maybe even dozens who are concerned because it will directly affect them.
Corn is a very versatile product. If they can't be a source of syrup they can certainly provide products for other industries. Corn oil is also in major retail product.
