It's not how the founders intended....the Winner takes all Electors in each state.... by doing this in 48 of the states with only 2 states left that issue electors proportionate to their population vote, it disenfranchises the citizen's who did not vote for the other candidate.... You claim ZERO citizen's voted for the loser, and take their votes and add their votes to the winner, to give the winner ALL OF THE ELECTORS..... electors are issued to each state for each congressional district they have....each congressman's district is for every 700,000 citizens, so one elector for every 700k in citizens...
Plus 2 electors, representing each state's 2 Senators.....

The manipulation of these states issuing their electors by giving them ALL to the winner, and not proportionately by how the citizens voted in their state, is wrong, and should not be done that way....it's what messes up the electors vote of each state....And the overall national election.

Here's the thing: you people complain about the EC, but you have no idea how an actual popular vote would work out for you. Take NY or CA for instance. There are probably a lot of Trump supporters or Republican voters in general that don't come out to vote unless there are other local issues. Why should they? Their vote won't count for anything. Their state has no chance at supporting a Republican. So they just stay home.

Here's the thing: you people complain about the EC, but you have no idea how an actual popular vote would work out for you. Take NY or CA for instance. There are probably a lot of Trump supporters or Republican voters in general that don't come out to vote unless there are other local issues. Why should they? Their vote won't count for anything. Their state has no chance at supporting a Republican. So they just stay home.

Statistics show that people turn out for a Presidential election. A typical voter has no idea what the Electoral College is or that their vote for president will be discarded if he doesn’t win the state.

Actually, even that isn't really quite true. In Florida, they wrongly called the vote early for Gore despite the fact that the panhandle was in a different time zone and had another hour before their polls closed, and hearing that Gore had already won, people stopped voting early, no doubt costing GW many votes he should have gotten.

Gore lost the election because he didn't win his home state of Tennessee...and he also didn't win bill clinton's home state of Arkansas...had he won either one, he would have been President, and not had to try to steal the election...

I think most people do know how votes are calculated and what the electoral college is.
