Diplomatic sources told the Sunday Times that the U.S. "bought weapons from the stockpiles of Libya's former dictator Muammar Gaddafi."

He was present at a place where the CIA had transferred, and possibly was transferring, weapons to Syrian insurgent forces not loyal to Assad. You'll have to draw your own conclusions as to why an ambassador (a State Dept official) was there ... because despite all of the GOWDY THEATRE that's the question no one has had the balls to get the answer to.

My take is an ambassador who habitually kept his thumb in the pie, which was his greatest asset, but one not useful in Libya if we were using it for covert weapons transfers, WITH THE KNOWLEDGE OF BOTH PARTIES, and just general dumb no one had overall command because the WH had to micromanage and general incompetence. But that's just my take.

Well as Tehon noted, it is maybe refreshing to see you idiots actually asking relevant questions, belatedly as it is. No one on the Gowdy panel had the stones to go there (perhaps because Gowdy, Cotton, McCain, Graham, McConnell were also there) but most likely Stevens was killed in connection with transferring arms we sent to use in Libya to Syrian insurgents. It would appear that either those insurgents didn't like us, or they busted into an arms transfer operation. No one really knows because .... wait for it ... no one asked ... publically anyway.

And the reason they didn't ask is because both parties are probably complicit in oking the operation. It has hallmarks of something micromanaged by the WH, with no one actually in Libya having authority to make decisions. And W did the same shite. The story of Gates taking over for Rumsfeld, and going to Iraq and seeing the Humvees the troops were driving around IEDs, and the resulting explosion by Gates, is pretty well known ... by those who pay attention.

Hillary was SoS when an ambassador got killed. An ambassador who had absolutely no legit reason to be where he was unless the CIA and possible DoD and the WH wanted him there.
