I am for a two-state solution to the 67 borders and sharing Jerusalem and Israel accepting most of the Arab League's offer...
Americans need a peace there to stop the Terrorism in our shores.
That's my motivation, stop being the Policeman of the World, especially to our ego alien Middle East where slaughter on both sides is the norm...
I'm a Libertarian Isolationist! Or America for Americans!
'67 borders/ceasefire line, before or after the war, no longer exist. Palestinians need to lower their expectation if they want anything. The violence must end for everyone's sake, but if they keep demanding what they cannot have as a starter the bloodshed will keep staining the ground of all the land.
If palestinians what any kind of state they must realize the security and perpetual existence of Israel will be first and foremost in any negotiations. When you walk to the table you have to consider Israel has, palestinians want. What will palestinians give to educe Israel to give up anything. Will the palestinians give up their arms? Exchange land? Safe corridor to Jordan or Egypt for trade? Change their verbal abuse and end the teaching of hate against Israel? Work with all arab states to absorb the refugees or help transport some to the WB and, then shut down the camps and end the UN relief for the palestinians? Dissolve the terrorist and militant groups? Help fight terrorism in the rest of the region? Recognize Israel, open normal diplomatic relations, life ban on Israeli and jewish companies and allow normal trade by arab countries? Access to all religious sites by all religions when services are not being held? End the attacks and pogroms on christians and jews by muslims?
What are the palestinians willing to give, with arab states help, to entice Israel to give anything? The more they attack Israel in any way the less likely they are to get anything. Everyone, or at they they should, be seeking to give the palestinians recognition and a state, but what they state will actually look like is up to Israel, not the UN, not the EU and not the palestnians. The end of treats against Israel and the jews must be a part of any hope for a state, with any lines. That is the most basic need in any agreement. The hate must end. After that anything might be possible.
tell that to the international community which does not recognize the illegal annexations including the US...
There was no state so no annexation. Egypt and Jordan turned the WB & G to Israel in a peace deal.
Palestinians did not have a state, the offer was refused in the UN.
The point is to try and give the palestinians a state or their own.
Ideally Israel might have like the east bank of the jordan and part of southern syria that used to be ancient Israel and Judea, but time has changed and you take what there is available. The creation of a jewish state goes back even before zionism. Jews worked to make it come about. Immigration, buying land, establishing farms and businesses, building the economy and engaging in government. It was far from a walk in and "give me". They worked for centuries to return to their historic homeland.
There was no nationalism and under Ottoman rule there was more tribal identity than Turkish or even arab identity. No one though of themselves as palestinian.
Everyone, well most, would like to accommodate the palestinians in some way, but there are other people with more right to their own state that still do not have recognition or statehood after the breakup of the Empire. Why should palestinians be shoving their way to the front of the line? Kurds are split across four countries, but if they ever were to get a state of their own it would be far limited to what they might like or what they had historically. Some would move to the new state and other would stay as members of what ever state they live in.
Israel statehood was declared and arab/palestinians left. They choose not to be Israelis. Arab nations attacked and lost land they have tried to conquer for their own out of what was "offered" by the UN for an arab/palestinian state and rejected.
Palestinians cannot have the whole pie. If they want any of it they have to work with Israel not against it, or the rest of the pie will end up in the garbage so to speak instead of on the palestinian plate.
Palestinians are not the ones to be making "demands", they have to come and politely ask. Stabbing Israelis, throwing rocks, firing rockets, generally threatening Israel is not the way to make Israel more flexible. Palestinians are throwing a temper tantrum, not rationally working towards achieving a state of their own. The long this goes on the more they will get spanked and given a time out instead of a reward.
If palestinians expect to have a state they will have to have their hat in hand and say they will actually sit down, cooperate and work towards a security and peace for all the region. Israel is not going to relax while have is being spewed at them from both sides and making unreasonable demands. Israel would rather the palestinians have a state. They would rather live in peace. They would rather have normal relations with the arab world. Palestinians are not making Israel feel warmly and safe.
Palestinians need to stop acting like a three yr old and more like a young adult read to step out and begin their own life in the world community.
