I get it that the job of a mod isn't easy but it's the job they have chosen.

If the Religion forum were moved to Zone one, people who want to discuss the actual topics can do so without the constant barrage of "there is no God" and "if you believe you are an idiot" remarks.

If we do that, will there be fewer "Here is why Evolution is a Lie" or "Atheists are wrong and going to Hell" kind of threads? It seems to me it works both ways.

I agree with post 2. Religion/spirituality is a personal matter. Others don't have a right to dick-tate what others have to believe in.

Then don't enter. Some WANT to discuss similar beliefs in comraderie...some WANT to learn of other beliefs. Nobody is "dick tating".

And yes, it is a busy forum but most just read because of attitudes like yours.

Yeah, I'm just offering my observation on the threads that of of interest to me. I understand that you hard working mods must consider every possible permutation....to be fair and all.

Scenario:

You LOATHE Tacos. But you go into a mexican restaurant and complain they make tacos. So now you want them to STOP making tacos because those similar to sammiches but are really NOT sammiches. So...dump the non sammich hispanic form of tacos.

If you know they serve A LOT of tacos because those that go there not only want a taco, they want an enchilada as well. But now they can't get the taco because you wanted to complain about it instead of going where no tacos are ever served. Like, an indian restaurant. Or a pizza place. Nope. YOu want THAT place to NOT SERVE THOSE TACOS!

IMO, threads like those belong in forums where bashing is authorized, aka Zone 3.

but for atheists, and assholes, (notice how I separate them), there is no place for them trolling in R&E.

I completely understand. You feel it is completely proper and even advised for religious folk to insult and degrade those who don't share their particular religious beliefs, and the victims of those attacks should just STFU and take it. Who could possibly find fault with that?

Can you imagine a religious discussion by Christians that didn't mention their only goal, which is an eternity in heaven to the exclusion of all that don't share their beliefs? No I can't either. Perhaps a private, invitation only thread where you don't have to allow any differences of opinion, but if you have an open discussion, it has to be open to even those that don't fall in line.

??? I know lots of liberal Christians who value inclusion and not judging.
I think the problem is those types may not have time to spare arguing with people who aren't going to change their minds.
The ones who bother to argue are the ones who like to argue!

If I start a thread about my belief that the traditional teachings about heaven and hell originate from paganism, and my intent is to get "traditional christians" to defend this, AS AN ATHEIST, WHAT IS THE POINT OF YOU INSERTING YOURSELF?

It is a discussion that YOU, as someone who doesnt even recognize GOD, have NOTHING to contribute to the discussion.

NOBODY gives a damn, in this case, about your trolling input, because you dont even share the foundation with those involved in the discussion
