Assuming bioweapons even exist they would have certain hallmarks. Very quickly incapacitating after infection, not transmissible between humans and a lot of cases all at once confined to a very specific area.

The flu is still more deadly.

Yes it is but we have an infrastructure in place to combat the flu as well as a thorough knowledge of the virus. With the corona virus we are dealing with a lot of unknowns. Epidemiologists have long been warning of the danger we will face at some point in the future from a deadly pathogen emerging from the developing world. It really is just a matter of time. Corona virus as it settles into a new host still has the very real potential to mutate into a deadlier form.
