We elected a black president.

Turned out skin color was a poor choice in deciding same, didn't it.

Skin color was not a factor but it did turn out that the man was a good choice.

Jobs, economic recovery, stock market and more have flourished under his leadership. Meanwhile, the Repubs have done nothing but gerrymander, obstruct and vacation.

It seems incredible that the President's obvious successes are so easily dismissed by the Conservatives. I think it means that the Conservatives would have brought us more of what they left in 2008, but we would have to excuse the Conservative presidency for all crimes foreign and domestic. These may include starting expensive wars and introducing vile methods to conduct them with, again, foreign and domestic.

But this thread is what the Conservatives think we should stop, for the good of the poor, both Black and White. The Conservatives think that aid to women and children is something the poor would be better off without. SNAP benefits and the aid to the elderly and infirmed is holding these folks back from their potential. More police support (without, hopefully, the militarization of that support) is something to be withheld from the poor for their own good. Surely concealed carry permits and more guns on the mean streets could only mean greater safety for the public.

Conservatives think that public housing units as well as Section Eight rent subsidized units are really oppressing the poor. Without these safety nets, more of the privately rented properties would be, no doubt, decent, safe and sanitary without the hampering intrusion of housing inspections.

Yes sir! The Conservatives aren't wishing to take anything away from the poor that is not absolutely necessary. Things like food, shelter and clothing.

It's for the good of the poor, doncha know.

Really? Maybe we have different understandings of Affirmative Action (AA). In the counties of which I'm familiar, AA has given way to a consent decree, meaning the hiring authority works to recruit and train individuals in the community so that agencies within the region begin to reflect the demographics of the community.

Those recruited and trained still need to pass written and standardized civil service tests, and meet all the other MQ's of all candidates. The only unfairness occurs when candidates who meet the MQ's and pass the test tie on the eligibility list, at that time the protected class has the advantage and will likely receive the offer of employment.

Everything that today's Liberals hold as sacrosanct, comes directly out of the Eugenics movement of the early 20th Century.

Eugenics, was then, what "Global Warming" is today, only much more widely accepted and inculcated much deeper into the culture. The fundamental premise being that minorities were axiomatically inferior... that includes minority races and women... this is the fundamental basis of "Welfare".

WW2 had a massive effect on Eugenics, with the NAZIS being major and very public proponents of Eugenics... and with the post war knowledge of old Doc Mengele, the Left got busy QUICK, putting the lid on Eugenics. And everyone pretty much forgot about it.

LOL! Then decades later the Tuskegee Experiments... wherein US Socialists, under the guise of science, pumped Syphilis into 3 generations of otherwise healthy BLACK MEN.

You should update your news source! By any economic metric, this administration has succeeded in staving off an economic collapse and then reverse unemployment numbers but improved them to levels not seen since a Republican was in the White House.

Consumer confidence is up, the markets are in record territory, homes are peaking above the waterline. Oil is below $70 bbl.

All this with legislators proffering their main task was not to legislate, but to provide political obstruction.

Their has been precious little progress with that program, especially for black Americans. That might not be surprising given that everywhere in the world blacks are found they are uniformly less accomplished than all others in educational fields.
