President Trump orders attack on Venezuelan drug runners at sea

It just doesn't get more disingenuous than writing a headline like "Liberals pounce to defend drug cartels......."

First, the regime has offered no solid evidence of anything yet.

Second, the headline conflates questioning whether the killings were justified, and or legal, with defending drug cartels. Surely you aren't so stupid you can't see that..........are you?
It’s just stating a fact.

What’s not justified about killing drug cartels?

You've encapsulated the rationale behind much of what Dotard is doing. "Enact the policy.........the law be damned." That's autocracy.
What law prohibits stopping drugs from being smuggled into the country berg80

Democrats are the party of criminals their new oppressed minority. So stupid they are so screwed

International law prohibits the arbitrary deprivation of life, which includes extrajudicial killing. This norm is codified in every major human rights treaty and has attained jus cogens status as a non-derogable norm in international law. In the United States, the Torture Victim Protection Act (“TVPA”) establishes civil liability for extrajudicial killing.

Is the blowing up of a boat 1,000 miles away from the US an example of trump getting bored with breaking US law so he wanted to extend his reach? Maybe. We don't know cuz we have very little info to go on. One thing we do know is nothing this government tells us can be trusted. Distrust and verify is the necessary approach.

But some officials at the Defense Department privately expressed concern on Wednesday about the administration’s shifting narratives, including where the vessel was headed. Mr. Rubio had said on Tuesday that it was going to Trinidad, while Mr. Trump said the United States. On Wednesday, Mr. Rubio changed his version, saying the drug-laden boat was bound for the United States.

The secretary said in Mexico City that drug cartels and traffickers, including those on the boat, “pose an immediate threat to the United States, period.”

Pentagon officials were still working Wednesday on what legal authority they would tell the public was used to back up the extraordinary strike in international waters.

Is there any legal authority? Does it matter to a guy who rolls out of bed wondering which law to break today? Does immunity for the prez, invented by the SC, count in the Hague? Was Don irritated by his puffy ankles and decided to take it out on some guys going fishing? I'm not sure we'll ever find out.

As an aside to the mods who moved this post off the politics forum, it didn't work.
Um this wasn’t arbitrary…so your link doesn’t apply

President Donald Trump revealed a military strike against drug-runners in a ship from Venezuela in an offhand comment from the White House, but it led to a curious response from his critics. The president offered few details on the operation to reporters Tuesday but said that he had been briefed on the strike by Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Trump later released a video of the strike on a post on Truth Social and said that 11 people had died. He said they were members of the infamous Tren de Aragua criminal gang. "Please let this serve as notice to anybody even thinking about bringing drugs into the United States of America. BEWARE!" Trump said.
"Drug trafficking is a crime, not an act of war. Traffickers must be arrested, not summarily executed, which U.S. forces just illegally did," human rights activist Kenneth Roth responded.
No, drug trafficking is a crime and it is an act of war, since about 300 Americans die of drug overdoses every year.
I could care less if the courts say otherwise. It's about damned time!!!
1. True, drug trafficking is a crime and an act of war.
2. Where did you get that 300 Americans die from drug overdoses? It's running between 70,000 and 80,000 a year.

Since when?

On Tuesday, Mr. Trump said on social media that 11 members of the Tren de Aragua gang, whom he called “Narco terrorists,” were killed in the strike.

Mr. Trump’s post was accompanied by a video of what appeared to be a speedboat cutting through the water, with a number of people on board. An explosion then appears to blow it up.

Congress has not authorized any armed conflict against Tren de Aragua or Venezuela, and several legal experts said they were unaware of any precedent for claiming that a country could invoke self-defense as a basis to target drug trafficking suspects with lethal force.

Trump declared them a terrorist organization. He doesn't need any authorization from Congress.

Drug Cartels kill 80,000 Americans a year, that is an act of war, or narco-terrorism.

Keep defending drug cartels dumbass.

I hope Trump blows them up in Mexico too.

Deranged and destructive democrats are in total support of criminals of whatever kind, wherever they come from. Wholly and completely. Of course they will come out in support of drug smugglers. Don't you get it yet? They intend to destroy the very idea of America.

Cool that the president can kill whoever he wants as long as he calls them the right thing. Hard not to wonder if this is testing out the whole shoot someone on fifth avenue thing.

I don't see anyone defending drug cartels. You right-wing nutjobs need to quit doing this disingenuous mess. This is a serious situation where Trump has violated international law, making America less safe

Trump learned from Barry Hussein.

At least Trump isn't using drones on Americans like Barry.

If someone is selling drugs, distributing drugs, breaking into stores on 5th Avenue, I'm good with blowing them away where they stand.

If drug trafficking is such a big problem, why hasn’t this happened many times in the recent past? Why off the coast of Venezuela, 1,000 miles from US shores?

Fishy no?

Your credibility and that of your OP has fallen to the gutter with this OP of yours.
