Trump just signed EO to remove federal ban on psychedelic drugs.

WTF? I did all that shit back in the 60's, this is bad medicine.

Trump signs executive order directing FDA to review psychedelics designated as breakthrough therapy drugs

"President Donald Trump signed an executive order Saturday that he said "directs the FDA to expedite their review of certain psychedelics already designated as breakthrough therapy drugs."

"These treatments are currently in the advanced stages of clinical trials to ensure that they're both safe and effective for the American patients," he added.

The president said the executive order would implement "historic reforms to dramatically accelerate access to new medical research and treatments based on psychedelic drugs."

"In many cases, these experimental treatments have shown life changing potential for those suffering from severe mental illness and depression, including our cherished veterans," Trump said, citing the veteran suicide rate.

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates."

Democrat's behaviour would indicate they've been using psychedelic drugs for decades! Something is to blame for the way they behave.

These drugs will be a game changer for the mentally ill.

I think they want to make shrooms legal.

They're already legal.

There's a really good Netflix doc on this. Mostly focuses on veterans who are severely impacted by PTSD to the point they're not functioning and suicidal. For them it was a miracle drug. The dr explained today that it forges different pathways in your brain. I would never want to take it, but despite what many here think, I'm mentally healthy (ha).

The other dr today said that traditional antidepressant meds only have a 20-30% success rate, which is terrible for a chronic condition.

I think PTSD is an excuse. We went through WW1 and WW2 and no veteran I know of had to walk around with an "emotional support" doggie or a pet lizard on his shoulder.

When did we become a nation of emotional pussies?

I'm about as anti-drug as you can get.
Hate pot. Don't think it should be legalized. I think the slippery slope is bad business.
Having said that, I've seen too many interviews with PTSD sufferers who have taken psychedelics under strict psychiatric supervision and had marked improvement, I can't merely dismiss it.

I think your point is probably quite valid.
Since I never suffered from it, I'll try to stay neutral.

When I served in the Army in the early 70's, the Vietnam War was winding down. I would have given a left nut to have served in Vietnam, but they weren't sending anyone there by then.

This guy is my role model..

I had a neighbor serve in Vietnam and it was obviously a nightmare situation for him.
The draft ended the year I was eligible.
To this day I'm thankful I never had to serve in a far-away shit hole in a losing effort that the politicians wouldn't let us win.
I regret I never served my country but that situation was such a monumental F-up, I wanted absolutely no part of it.

Both of my brothers in law served there. One was a mortar man who saw combat and darned near overran by the VC. The other BIL was a Marine who served in combat until he took some grenade fragments. Neither one are at all freaky-deeky about it and say they'd do it over again if they could.

Worry not, JG, I took psychedelics hundreds of times back in the 70s and they never did a single thing to harm me. I'm still my good ol' sweet self.

You know where the term "Shell shocked" comes from right? WW1. People lost their minds (photos below). I agree emotional support lizards is ridiculous and some people who had desk jobs in the military get disability for bogus claims But if you saw real combat, yes it's very valid.

Ain’t no slippery slope. It’s an avalanche.
More pandering to a new voting block; drug addicts.
This medicinal angle is total bullshit. More attempts at mainstreaming drug abuse and capitalizing on that market. Legislatures are now drug cartels. Getting their cut of the money off the dope market while removing impediments to their own drug habits.
