Of course! it is a HIGH compliment! A football team usually seeks a name to inspire fear in their opponents! ( Except Miami who opted for a ridiculous team name and logo) .

It is not as if the Atlanta Falcons changed their name to the "Atlanta Neggers". No one in their right minds seeks a racist moniker. They seek a fearsome one.

IF REDSKINS was offensive, then perhaps something along the lines of BRAVES or CHIEFS is better. Frankly, given the nature of DC, I think they should name themselves after something more reflective of their fan base. The DeeP STATERS or QUISLINGS.

Okay, let's look at that. We called Native Americans "redskins" and implied they were savage and vicious.

And we used that as an excuse to exterminate them more thoroughly than Hitler exterminated the Jews.

No, calling a team by a racist name still demeans them.

Definitely. "Redskins" is a racial slur. Why deliberately offend people?

So a team would name themselves after a racial slur and something that was meant to be derogatory? Of course not. Grow up.
Times change, and things change with them.

Wake up and join the 21st century.

No, you should wake up to the Marxist destruction of our country. And grow up too.
You should look up what a Marxist is.

absolutely. Redskin is a racial slur.
Not to the American Indians who are proud of their heritage. You must stamp out all vestages of American Indian traditions and existance as your Democrat party tells you what to do and what to think to cancel ever vestage of American history, especially any native American traces of their origins, which are basically not known anyway other than through imaginative stories that seem a fairy tale, but give an explanation of how life works for human life as they experience it.

/-----/ No, you useful idiot. Trump did not create the Chink flu, he didn't make it worse, he didn't create the recession. nor did he call for riots. But you already knew that.

Nope, all Trump's fault. You guys knew he was a mutt when you picked him up.
Presbyterians aren't mutts. They're the lifeblood of orderly human relations, Christianity through the struggles they had in getting here and trying to get along with the natives who welcomed them upon arrival and sustained them when they ran out of food. Only one Christian minister signed the declaration of Independence. He was a Presbyterian, and the Houses of Congress were patterned after the Presbyterian tradition of decision-making through mutual caring, community support, respect for the opinion of other people, and majority vote wins the day for whatever the issue is.

The Democrats follow every wind drift even when it lands them and their allies in a boatload of trouble, and they disrespect the Constitution, orderly decision making, the rule of law, and majority decisions. Just like an irresponsible but determined mutt.

Um, wow... really? You think using a racial slur is honoring them?

Um, we were talking about Trump. You know, the guy who is such a good Christian he fucks porn stars while his wife is at home with a new baby.

Dan Snyder need to change the name of his football team to insure the profitability of his team is not affected negatively, that is it.

So you are saying the left made a stretch of the whole garage pull knot thingy. That was my point, CONTEXT CONTEXT CONTEXT, THE CONTEXT HAS TO BE INTENT AND BLATANT, OTHERWISE WE'VE BECOME A SOCIETY OF THIN SKINED EVERYBODY WINS A TROPHY HOODIES AND BACKPACK SPORTING LOONY TUNES.

Okay, let's look at the context.

Bubba was the first black driver in NASCAR (a notroiously racist sport) and he lauded the removal of the Confederate Flag from NASCAR events. Then he goes to where he keeps his car and he sees what looks like a noose in his garage.

Turns out he was wrong, it was just a pull knot... but you can see if he thought otherwise.

On the other hand, if it had been there for years and he saw it before, and then made a big deal, shame on him.
Yes, I can see a "Slight concern" because supposed no other garages had any (although that's conflicting), but not a reverse racist assumption that all "redneck" nascar employees are racist. Sometimes a knot is just a knot, a noose knot grab pull rope just a garage door pull rope.
I'm not one who says he did it as an activist stunt, but he was not exactly sincere or fully apologizing for HIS RACISM (stereotyping) in jumping to conclusions.
Sometimes an oven is just an oven until someone makes a comment otherwise.

Now notice I put quotes around redneck?
LAKHOTA and his/her favored Politicians love calling people rednecks and call people white, gringo, ORANGE, etc but that's ok, so only when color can be political bait, race baiting and pandering, does reference get his or her TDS in an uproar.

Or not.

Well, since they weren't ovens, they were cremetoriums, I'm not sure what you point is.

I'm really not interested with your problems with Lakhota. take it up with her.

So since a garage pull rope is not a hanging rope on a gallows or scaffold or tree then what was the medias point in connecting the 2 if not a political stunt?

Goodness, Joe. I've never slurred American Indians, but I have been a vocal spokesman for my own people for many years. Redskin is kind of a silly word to be taken as a racial slur, if that's what you think is a slur. And I have never seen red skin on anyone but children with a rash. If you look closely, red is the color of sunburned skin, but it goes away in winter months.

President Trump is a Presbyterian Christian. When believers are sorry for their sins, and they ask the Lord's forgiveness, he grants it because he knows a sincere heart when he sees one. Most of us cannot see what God sees, but we know that he is not only good, He loves America and blessed all of us with freedoms others in the world have not been so fortunate. Naptime for this old Presbyterian woman. Hope everyone has a blessed day and treats each other well. :huddle:

Wow, seriously, you don't really see this, or are you being obtuse?

I thought the purpose of forgiveness is to actually admit what you did wrong, and make amends.

Trump isn't doing that with Stormy Daniels. He's suing her for violating her NDA and slandering her. This isn't very "Christian".

Okay, guy, you are just kind of a retard.

Does anyone have a picture of this noose?
I used your logic and you called "your logic" retarded.
I rest my case.

In regards to me bringing up Lakhota, you replied to my rebuttle with her. I repeating context 3x to you so you understood what is important, and yet you took my conversation with Lakhota out of context and questioned why bringing her up was relevant=because it was the context of discussion and lesson that her logic and now yours is flawed or as you said retarded, except I would never use that word or such an ad hominem argument.

Really, JoeB131, I'd never speak poorly of your girth to others. Not ever. /blush

As you know, even a President of the USA can sue people who break their contract for which they were well paid, and 1/3 of your critique was right, the rest is just political nagging. Of course, these days, some men feel perfectly comfortable with nagging, even in politics where they'd receive criticism from their victims.

The NFL and its sponsors are no longer comfortable with the name so it really does not matter what the regular fan thinks or feels. Money talks.

Its the fans that spend the money. Without the fans, no team would survive. No sponsor can save a team from an empty stadium or mounds of unpurchased merchandise.

What merchandise, it was all pulled. Like I said, extortion.

.

I stated that as an example of what the future could hold for the Franchise if the abandon the name and the history of the Franchise. I was not talking about Redskin Merchandise. You can still buy Redskin merchandise at their website, plus there will always be Redskin merchandise for sell on Ebay and other sites especially now that the franchise is changing the name. People with Redskin merchandise just became wealthier. Not sure when or if the Franchise will actually stop selling Redskin Merchandise.

I mean, what if you want John Riggins T-shirt or a Darrell Green T-shirt. They played for the Washington Redskins, not the Washington Whatever's.
