Let's see how our new US-NATO "forward deployment" ( Poland, Romania, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovakia ) goes first, eh?

Given a while ( a year? two? three? more? ), it the "forward deployment" looks both (a) long-term and (b) stable, amongst the locals, then... well... maybe.

Given our ability to deliver nuclear weaponry in-theatre quickly I don't see a lot of advantage in any particular Eastern European nuclear weapons staging.

I don't blame the Poles for asking - if they actually did - after all, much like the Jews of Israel, the Poles live in a patch of land much like a busy highway.

Poland has appealed to the American Congress with a request to help get reparations from Germany for damage caused by the consequences of World War II, Deputy Foreign Minister Arkadiusz Mulaczyk said.

"We believe that the United States is a state that is responsible for the global order, is a key country if we talk about the observance of international order, human rights, the rule of law, international justice," he explained.

Mularczyk stressed that Warsaw is counting on Washington's support in this matter.

Last week, the Polish Foreign Ministry announced that Berlin had officially notified of its refusal to negotiate reparations. As Polish Deputy Foreign Minister Pawel Jablonski said yesterday, this will be a big problem for Berlin and a step that it will be ashamed of.

Last fall, Poland, through diplomatic channels, demanded that Germany pay 6.2 trillion zlotys (about $1.3 trillion) as reparations for World War II.

Warsaw sent a note to 50 countries, as well as international organizations, explaining its right to these payments.
As indicated in the German government, Germany believes that it has already paid quite large reparations and there is no reason to question Poland's refusal of compensation in 1953.

Dear idiot mine: Poland today is not the Poland from 1939. The Polish - like all Slaws - had been "Aryans" in the defintion of the Nazis - as weird as all this nonsense had been. Nevertheless many Poles got the German citizenship. And in the SS - who had also been the executors of the holocaust - 1/3rd had not been Germans at all in 194x. I read long years ago a very interesting report of a Jew who survived in Poland and for this man the Polish had been as dangerous as the Germans in this time of history. Sure existed also many Polish heroes who had helped Jews - but this had been very few people. Anti-Semitism was also under Poles totally normal. And what I say here is perhaps meanwhile a crime in Poland because of absurde whitewashing laws. This laws "decide" what is allowed to be history and what is forbidden to be history - what's a typical Soviet attitude.

A big part of Poland today was once territory of Germany where after world war 2 nearly all Germans had been murdered or displaced. And one thing is totally clear in this context - also Nazi-Germany did not destroy this former German territory which was stolen from the winning allies and given to Poland. Many German nations had been by the way genocided on this way and do not exist any longer - for example the Prussians, the Silesians or the Bohemians.

What for do you say should "Poland" - whoever this is concrete - get 1.3 trillions from Germany for a war of a totally other Germany than the now existing Germany which ended in 1945 - 78 years ago with a Germany which was much more destroyed and where much more people had been killed while displaced people overflooded this country full of wounded, freezing and hungry people?
