We grew up poor but didn't realize it because so many others were as well.I suppose we should consider ourselves lucky we don't have to go through or face what many others have to.
If they pay for it themselves, it's none of our business. It's public money that causes the problem. It wouldn't be a problem of poor nutrition didn't cause so many health problems thar the public is then forced to pay for.Parents will still feed their kids sugary cereals, even if they have to pay for it themselves.
That's it in a nutshell, but if the medical services are also free, who cares? If they pay for it themselves, it's none of our business. It's public money that causes the problem. If one wants to purchase NON NECESSARY ITEMS, PAY FOR THEM YOURSELF.
Welfare should be for staple food products. Milk, bread, meat, vegetables, etc.
Not Kit Kat bars and Dr Pepper.
I love the new restrictions.
But they use federal money, to the feds have a say in how it is spent.Fyi, that is done at the State level, not thru federal law. Some states restrict it, but most do not, as of yet.
Medical services are not free. Just free to freeloaders. That's it in a nutshell, but if the medical services are also free, who cares?
Correct. this is a 'States' issue. Its crazy the fruits of my labor are stolen to give to others, simply for existing. Redistribution is bullshit, whether it is mountain dew and skittles, or rice and milk.
Get a fuckin job, or learn how to garden.
The fed govt has no authority to distribute tax payer funds to individuals anyway.
how are they being punished by anyone for being poor?It seems you guys love punishing the poor for being poor.
Why not put a big loudspeaker above each cash register when someone uses and EBT Card that calls out, "POOR PEOPLE, EVERYONE, POOR PEOPLE!!!"
Yeah, we're going to stick it to them so hard making them purchase healthy food. Those bastards. The sick fvcks get off on it...even though they are more likely to be poor than other demographics.
As I've always said...MAGA is about sticking it to someone--anyone. It's a sickness.
This is what I found on it and I think people have worked in general to get food assistance? Its crazy the fruits of my labor are stolen to give to others, simply for existing. Redistribution is bullshit, whether it is mountain dew and skittles, or rice and milk.

I don't expect them to be able to buy junk food and run up medical bills that the taxpayer has to foot because of their junk diet.If we bail out Spirit airlines to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars, do you suppose those who benefit from that taxpayer largess will be able to purchase junk food?
What are they doing that they can't get out of the cycle?Low-Wage Realities: Most recipients work in sectors with low pay, irregular hours, and few benefits (like retail or food service), which often keeps their income low enough to remain eligible.
Strict Work Rules: Federal laws (such as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act of 2025) mandate that many non-disabled adults work, volunteer, or train for at least 80 hours per month to keep their benefits. Those who cannot find work generally lose eligibility after three months.

I don't support the bailout of Spirit Airlines, and if you were paying attention, most of the GOP opposes bailing out a twice-failed airline.
Little known fact.Yeah, we're going to stick it to them so hard making them purchase healthy food. Those bastards.

That the money comes from the federal government under a federal program means no state interference.Correct. this is a 'States' issue.
It is part of the overall budget. It is a budget item that the Feds should not have on the books. The issue very clearly bothers your side far more than the left.
You’re the ones fixated on it and triggered by it.
There’s bigger fish to fry than some low income, uneducated single mother buying a pop and a bag of Cheetos with her food stamps.
Tediously categorizing exactly which food products can and cannot be purchased with the card, and then enforcing it would cost the taxpayers more than simply leaving it as is
Perhaps we should reflect on a period in our history when these issues didn't occur and then use it as a pattern for the future. This is what I found on it and I think people have worked in general to get food assistance?
Retailers generally pay workers low enough to allow workers to qualify.... Wow! If true?
_____________
Most adult welfare recipients work, with many participating in the labor force shortly before or after receiving benefits.
High Employment Rates: In programs like SNAP (food stamps) and Medicaid, the majority of "able-bodied" adults are either currently employed or recently held jobs. For example, roughly 75% of SNAP households with at least one working-age, non-disabled adult include someone who worked within a year of receiving assistance.
Low-Wage Realities: Most recipients work in sectors with low pay, irregular hours, and few benefits (like retail or food service), which often keeps their income low enough to remain eligible.
Strict Work Rules: Federal laws (such as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act of 2025) mandate that many non-disabled adults work, volunteer, or train for at least 80 hours per month to keep their benefits. Those who cannot find work generally lose eligibility after three months.
Barriers to Work: Those who do not work often face significant hurdles, including:
Caring for young children or elderly relatives.
Undiagnosed physical or mental health issues.
Lack of reliable transportation or affordable childcare.
