People receiving welfare are complaining they now cannot buy candy and soda with tax money they are given

The incredibly sad thing is this. The calculus. By definition if it makes headlines that they are sticking it to someone...you’ve heard of that someone. The creed of MAGA is if there is someone you’ve heard of, they are in the establisment (whatever that is), likely born of hollywood, broadway, publishing or academics, or politics. If it’s hollywood or broadway...they are (by definition) weirdos--and MAGA discounts all of the “acceptable” weirdos they endorse because they portrayed “manly” characters. If they are from publishing or academics, they are members of what Limbaugh used to call the “intelligencia”--as if intelligence is something to be scorned. Of course if they are of the political world, they’re a member of “the swamp” or “deep state”...two inventions of the MAGA world. The point is that whatever celebrity/achievement they attained was done through nefarious means. Its self-victimization at it’s zenith. So the only way to get rid of the supposed unfairness is to tyr to bring them down...somehow.

That is what the SPLC actions is all about.

You nailed it perfectly.

I think the whole thing is petty and micromanaging.
Treat people like adults and let them buy their own food

It isn’t any different than giving food to a beggar on the side of the road who claims to be hungry rather than just giving him cash that he could potentially buy booze or drugs with.

If we are to treat them like adults, why have any limits at all? Why can’t they buy Vodka? Oh yeah, because many aren’t responsible adults, thus why they are on food stamps to begin with. They would spend all their money on Vodka and then complain that they are starving and need more money and the Democrats would comply. You guys aren’t too bright.

Except there are some people who actually needed those food stamps that don't have any money and just can't "buy it now." What percentage I cannot say but those that truly need the food stamps the most will be the ones first and most affected because the rest of the people, maybe people who should not even be on the program in the first place, are the people who will most likely and most easily still just buy the stuff unaffected under the new law. Think about it.

Government/taxpayers do not save a red cent, and big government is handed yet more power over our lives which they will use for yet more influence over more lives, and still, I get nothing but people arguing in favor of this, much like they elected Mamdani and Spamburger, no matter what you tell people, no one wants to hear the truth anymore.
They “need” a candy bar? What about shaving money off elsewhere? Instead of having a breakfast of two eggs that other Americans pay for, they can have one (which I do regularly). They can buy a cheaper cut of beef that other Americans pay for. They can skip a manicure. (Yes, people on food stamps still do this.)

Or….here’s an idea….that can mow lawns or shovel snow for a little extra cash (like I did when I was a kid). Think of all the candy bars and soda you can buy with $50.

Great idea. Let's put restrictions on what you can buy with your social security check.

But execs can buy Vodka with the $500 million to bail out their company.
pknopp apparently thinks it’s funny for Islamic terrorists to have nukes.

I should have used the sad one to denote how gullible you are.

Yeah, that’s exactly the same. ;)

Gullible is being so naive as to not understand why Iran should not have nukes. Even the Dimwit party understood this which is why Obama attempted to negotiate a deal with them. If it didn’t matter, what was the point and why did Dimwits get so upset when Trump tore up the nuclear deal? Who cares, right?

Alcohol and tobacco are not food

If you want to ban soda, why not ban all sweetened drinks?
Why not ban sugary cereals?
Why allow cake and cookies while you ban cupcakes?

Treat people like adults and let them decide how to spend their monthly food budget.

Why do I care? because Trump is now going to waste billions if not trillions to simply enact the same thing.

It really isn’t their money, so yes there are restrictions on how they can spend it.

You forgot about eating road kill and dumpster diving
A lot of good food poor people can eat

I can choose what I spend my OWN money on. I EARNED my social security check over 40 years of working and paying taxes.

Don’t equate responsible senior citizens who have contributed to the country for decades to a mother on welfare who wants us to pay for whatever items she wants.

When they ^^^ lose the argument, they resort to ridiculous claims.

The fact is that food stamp recipients have so much coming in that they can afford steak at Whole Foods. Particularly the ones with five illegitimate children under age 8, and no baby daddies paying support. They get more than $1000 a month, tax-free!

That mother has three kids and works at jobs that need done but sadly pay very little.

Ahhh... except you really didn't.

Half the money that was put in SS on your behalf was paid by your employer, not you.

The point is, you aren't producing anything now. That welfare mom is probably going to end up in the workforce (as most people are only on welfare for a few years) and her kids certainly will be.

So it seems like if we are going to get rid of "useless eaters", us old folks would be on the top of the list.

Steak at Whole Foods?
You forgot to bring up the Caviar and Lobster that poor people buy at Whole Foods

We all know that poor people eat better than we do

Says who? Plenty of mothers with five illegitimate kids who work NO jobs, and live off food stamps, subsidized rent, Medicaid, and TANF.

You are clueless.
