People receiving welfare are complaining they now cannot buy candy and soda with tax money they are given

What abuses? The wealthy are simply playing by the rules that are given to them. If they are doing anything illegal, I expect the system to punish them. Beyond that, they are working the system that was given to them by BOTH republicans and democrats.

If you want a wealth tax, next time you all have a filibuster proof majority, like under Obama, get on it.
When was there a filibuster proof majority in the Senate? Dates please.
.

The Golden Rule……He who has the Gold, makes the rules

The wealthy write the tax code and have an army of lawyers and accountants to stretch it to their benefit
Must be why they pay the vast majority of the taxes, huh?

Moron.

Can you point to any flat rate plan where the working poor don’t end up paying more and the wealthy paying less?

Making the wealthy pay at a higher rate is fair…..that is where the money is
If the same rate is plied, how would the poor pay more than the rich, Stupid?

Senator Jim Justice is being sued for collecting sales taxes and then not remitting them to the state.

The state is constantly having to file leins and suits to get the money he owes.

For a small guy that would be fraud and he would likely go to prison.

That is clearly an abuse.
WTF does that have to do with his comment about working within the system, Short Bus? That is clearly outside the system.

Here is the difference. I condemned the corruption concerning Hunter.

You cant do that.

Like Hunter, Justice avoids prison like others would face.

But sadly, cults will cult.
You never condemned Crackhead’s corrupt money laundering schemes with The Big Guy.

I am just pointing out the obvious to you

Any flat tax will result in higher taxes for the working poor and less for the wealthy

Prove me wrong
Don’t you Islamocrats whine and cry the rich use loopholes to not pay taxes?

25% flat tax with no deductions.

Would they pay more, or less, Math Moron?

Well Darn~it! The beggars need to reach into their drug money drawer to buy a sack of Cheetos.

this does not apply to the elderly or truly disabled ,,,,,,

I agree in principle that food stamp recipients should not be allowed to buy random junk food with it.

I also don’t really think it’s that big of a deal one way or the other.

It’s certainly not worthy of the multiple threads on the subject

You guys really hyper-fixate on minor trigger-issues sometimes
And yet, here you are

It’s the entitlement behind it. Taxpayers are paying for the medical care of people who won’t work, and their kids, and subsidizing their rent, and buying their food.

But instead of thanking self-supporting taxpayers for all we provide, they’re demanding that we pay for their soda and candy too!

Except 40% of households using SNAP have at least one person who works. This has been explained to you many times.

Of the rest, most are elderly, disabled, or children.

If one wants to purchase NON NECESSARY ITEMS, PAY FOR THEM YOURSELF.

Welfare should be for staple food products. Milk, bread, meat, vegetables, etc.

Not Kit Kat bars and Dr Pepper.

I love the new restrictions.

How about putting the same restrictions on income given for corporate welfare.

The sick fvcks get off on it...even though they are more likely to be poor than other demographics.

As I've always said...MAGA is about sticking it to someone--anyone. It's a sickness.
They believe they are sticking it to the blacks.

15th post
I hear ya, but again, some people get food stamps for very legitimate reasons, they might be very sick, don't qualify for welfare, get no cash, have precious little money barely surviving, no one if getting a hair weave, there is no high living off the hog, they are in a very desperate, bad way, and really need those food stamps. Some people need candy bars around to help moderate their diabetes, and might need cola to mix with a little alcohol to help settle their nerves and help them sleep because the doctor won't give them pain killers or tranquilizers.

All I'm saying is that whenever you apply a blanket rule blindly across a large, diverse group of people, you are bound to effect some people in ways not intended, often affecting the least targeted people the most in fact, people who are already right on the edge of surviving whom this law could make surviving even harder.

For instance, cutting out junk food will not save the state or taxpayers a penny--- all it will do is slightly change what the allotted money goes towards paying for, people will still get the same allotment to spend and they will spend it, and probably easily find a way around the law by buying cake, ice cream, cookies, pastry--- some other fashion of junk food still covered.

And like I said, by doing this, we have allowed the government to really open the door into telling everyone how to eat at some point in the future, trying to make you eat better by some extra tax on junk food, higher insurance rates for people who buy it, etc. It is coming.

Some politician will reason that the new "no junk" policy has worked SO WELL on the poor, dying, handicapped and disabled that they need to do it to EVERYONE.
If they need their junk food so badly buy it. No one is stopping any purchase. Jut buy it

Except there are some people who actually needed those food stamps that don't have any money and just can't "buy it now." What percentage I cannot say but those that truly need the food stamps the most will be the ones first and most affected because the rest of the people, maybe people who should not even be on the program in the first place, are the people who will most likely and most easily still just buy the stuff unaffected under the new law. Think about it.

Government/taxpayers do not save a red cent, and big government is handed yet more power over our lives which they will use for yet more influence over more lives, and still, I get nothing but people arguing in favor of this, much like they elected Mamdani and Spamburger, no matter what you tell people, no one wants to hear the truth anymore.
