I have noticed on another thread that there is a lot of talk by conservatives about the kid being mentally ill. If the kid had been black, the entire race would be held responsible by conservatives; if the kid were muslim, the entire religion would be held responsible by conservatives.

I've been somewhat surprised (thus far) that there seems to be some not rushing to their defense.

There is no factual defense - he is on CCTV in the school hallway gunning down his schoolmates at point blank range. I’m sure any competent defense attorney, public defender included, will request a mental health evaluation; however as I already stated, the insanity defense is functionally nonexistent in Michigan having been gutted by the decision in Carpenter. Insanity defenses are very rarely successful in the USA - which is not a point of pride, we are regressive and archaic in our treatment of the mentally ill in our criminal justice system. They had just purchased a semiautomatic for him as a Xmas gift, and mommy spent at least one day making sure he knew how to use it. They get called by the school that he’s violating rules by searching for ammo online - mommy laughs, they do nothing. They get called into school the next day because he’s drawn a picture of a shooting with blood and bullets and statements like ‘the thoughts won’t stop’ ‘my life is useless’, ‘the world is dead’, and they don’t bother to tell school officials they just bought him a gun which he knows how to use - plus they refuse to take him home for the remainder of the day when asked to by the school. And they don’t immediately check on the whereabouts of that gun - not until they hear about a school shooting in progress.
These are grossly negligent acts that directly resulted in 4 deaths and many other seriously injured - at least one still critical. That is involuntary manslaughter. I hope the jury convicts and the judge gives consecutive 15 year sentences.

What about the black school shooter they let out on bail who was back at his home after shooting 3 people...remember that one? Did they arrest his parents?

This is a question that is screaming to be acknowledged. But few do.
To acknowledge it, is to self examine. To be critical of how we are living our lives, the shallowness of our culture and ourselves.

How do you know?

Please...explain...how do you know?

Do you know what they were trying to do with this boy? Was he in counseling, were they trying to decide the best way to deal with the situation....a horrible situation to have to deal with......?

What was going on between the parents and the school at the time....?

How concerned was the school about this kid? If they were really concerned, what were they doing?

Do you understand that this situation is complex, not easy, and that believing what the prosecutor and the press are telling you, at this point, is just silly....

The facts will come out, and we will see what we see...
