No doubt, fund raising is a big part of it now a days.

Like everything else, you have to have money to even get into the race. Quite a few years back (maybe mid-90's), I read that you have to have at least a half million dollars to get in a race for the House, $1.5 mil to make a run for the senate, and $20mil to run for President. I wonder what those figures would be today?
