Out of fairness we must tax everyone equally, no matter their income. Do you understand how unfair it is to tax someone successful more? That would be like throwing someone that saved someones life into prison. You may hate the rich, but do understand that they make most of the jobs.

Think of the people being employed.

Why is that? The rich have much more to protect and pay taxes for - and they consume the most government resources.

A progressive tax system is entirely fair.

Look at it this way.

If you earn $15,000 a year, and are taxed 10 percent, that $1,500 taken from you is food from your table. Your family is barely able to survive as it is.

If you earn $150,000 a year, the $15,000 taken from you is not going to take food off your table. It won't affect your survival.

That is why a flat tax is highly regressive, as are tax expenditures for things like mortgage interest.

I highly recommend reading this letter from Thomas Jefferson to James Madison in its entirety:

Another means of silently lessening the inequality of property is to exempt all from taxation below a certain point, and to tax the higher portions of property in geometrical progression as they rise.

And yet they banned direct taxation unless it was proportioned by the census. Go figure.

Great. All you people with kids who get to reduce your tax bill by thousands of dollars every year will get to pay what I pay,

when you lose all those deductions, credits, and exemptions you get from having kids.

Fine.. as long as it is equality in treatment without exception
