Zeldin testifies before congress and looks like he packed a lunch. Rosa deLauro tried to tear him a new one but Zeldin had the receipts. These hearings for the most part are bogus with the member asking staff prepared questions on topics they usually aren't well informed on.
Here we go...
"Lee Zeldon is going to pretend like he's the smartest guy in the room when Connecticut Democratic Representative Rosa Deluro starts to grill him on why he's cutting the EPA uh labor force byAnd why he just spoke at a climate deniers conference, why the EPA director is speaking at a climate deniers conference.
And so Lee Zeldon is going to get defensive and he's going to bring up section 202 of the Clean Air Act and all these Supreme Court cases and he's going to make the argument that the EPA doesn't have any right to regulate and make policy about climate change, which is just mindnumbingly stupid.
And this is going to enrage Rosa Deluro.
He's also going to try to take credit for Biden's EPA investigations as his own, as Donald Trump's. And he's going to try to pretend as if his EPA, an EPA he cut by 20%, by the way, is somehow way more impactful than Biden's EPA." -
Narrator
"I just want to make one point because I'm a strong believer in science and research, but it's my understanding that um under the the Trump administration, the agency has shed 20% of its staff either wiped out or deeply slashed several programs, including the Office of Research and Development. I'm interested in the same way Miss Pingry is is about I quite frankly, you know, I thrive on research, biomedical research or any kind of research. I I I find it that this is not an administration that places a lot of uh eggs in that research basket and that that they they don't have a problem with with cutting that back and it would appear that that 20% cut in staff there. So it would be interesting to know about the um the scientists uh etc and and what direction they tell us we should be going in. Uh climate change uh real happening all around us."
"Uh that is that's a quote by the way. Climate change is real and happening all around us. That is directly from EPA website."
