masks and sanitizer etc was bought up near immediately in China etc in January, Bloomberg reported on it.... how the heck could our govt miss that, and not realize the same would happen here, is beyond me....No! Both countries had only 1 case in January when South Korea ordered test kits and supplies needed to stop the virus. The US did nether. South Korea blocked travel from Italy and other countries with increasing numbers of cases. The US did so only weeks later. China with population of 4 times the US, has stopped the virus in 4 months. The size of the country is relevant only to the preparation and planning for the next epidemic. The US had far greater resources than South Korea, yet it was far less prepared simply because it choose to use those resources elsewhere. Now the country will pay the price.South Korea ordered test kits in January as well as medical supplies and equipment needed to fight the virus. We had the same information they had we had same number of cornavirus cases in January, one. South Korea reduced the total number of cases from their peak in March by 33%. For the same period, the total number of cases in the US have increased by 850%. How come?
Because we have a much bigger population and have done more testing. Why don't you compare relative death rates?
Although Trump is certainly to blame for ignoring everybody from the World Health Organization, the CDC, the AMA, Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness and even a report that came out of Homeland Security last year, however he is not totally to blame. US presidents have never heeded the warnings of a pandemic, not Reagan, not Clinton, not Bush, and not Obama.
