Zone1 Only Tax Payers should be allowed to vote

What “dole”? You mean the Medicare program they paid into for 40 years? That’s an earned benefit. Same with SS.

And they should enjoy it! For as long as the voters see fit to provide it.

But under this proposal they wouldn’t be able to vote on their own benefits.

WELFARE recipients haven’t paid in a dime.
SS and Medicare are not the dole. They are INSURANCE policies with paid up premiums. No different from any other auto, home, fire, life or health insurance. Only the totally ignorant compare them to welfare.

In this case it just means living off a check from the taxpayers instead of a paycheck, I suppose.
SS is the benefit that was paid for when the government decided to get into the insurance business. I agree that the gov't shouldn't be in the insurance business, but they sold a product and now the bill has come due. This could be easily handled if only land owners were eligible to vote.

That would be Democrats making the comparison. That’s because Dems like to blur the lines between contributing members of society and “takers,” just as they blur the lines between lawful immigrants and illegal aliens.

Everyone is equal, doncha know?!

That would put 1,2 million veterans on the dole, so they could no longer vote (by one persons position)
Veterans have contributed to society. How dare you compare them to welfare mamas who push out four illegitimate kids?

Even newborns indirectly pay taxes. It's just that their taxes are paid by their parents.
I went to an NBA game and paid for a ticket.. that money went into the organization. my team ended up winning the championship. Am I “indirectly” an NBA champion? Lol

I’m personally of the opinion that not everyone pays taxes. A newborn, for example, pays no taxes. People I consider intelligent pay as little tax as possible. Some may actually pay none, if they’re crafty enough to avoid the net.
.

I have a good broker.

I think that only landowners should get the vote.

Not the newborns whose parents are on welfare, and who immediately placed on it himself.

Even people on welfare pay tax. Such as sales tax on a pair of pants.

Why would they be exempt? The purpose, I assume, of the proposal is to keep people from voting themselves the keys to the Treasury at the expense of the rest of the country and of the long-term financial stability of our finances. There’s no group that more consistently does this than retirees, so it doesn’t make sense to exempt them.
What can a retired person get in handouts similar to what the shiftless and illegals get?

They're intergenerational wealth transfers. The question the OP raises is whether those extracting the wealth from working taxpayers should no longer have a voting say in protecting (or increasing) that extraction. Should a minority of the population be able to vote itself trillions of dollars? It's an interesting question at least.

~$3 trillion (and growing) of federal spending every year. Spending on retirees is the primary fiscal obligation of the government at present.
