The energy independence we have obtained in the last three years, specifically not being dependent on oil from the Middle East, enables us to stay out of the Middle East. We no longer have to be concerned about what is happening there and can let them govern themselves. Bring the troops home and leave them home.

Meh. I'd prefer to keep a lid on things. If we vacate then China or Russia moves in.
I agree to vacate AFG, let China have all those minerals.
As for Saudi Arabia, with the new Aramco IPO coming out, there is tons of money to be made there.
Then there is Iran and the straights of Hormuz, which is the jugular for the rest of the world.
I hope Trump can get NATO to pick up more of the slack, that would be optimum.
