If it continues to go up then it will be speculation not supply and demand. More oil is coming online so very slowly. Many rigs in the US were shut down in the US due to lack of demand. The number of rigs that were in operation dropped from a high of 800 when Trump was President to 200 or so in early 2000. It has rebounded to around 300 or so in 2021.

What do oil rigs have to do with it? Oil rigs do no good with no oil. It's speculators that always set the price. Been that way 20 years ago and will be that way in 20 years from today.
