Oh look, more anti-free speech from Vance.

"Report those who celebrate Charlie Kirk death to employers, Vance says"

Yep, Vance wants to stop people saying negative things about Charlie Kirk.

""Call them out, and hell, call their employer," Vance said as he guest-hosted an episode of the Charlie Kirk Show. "We don't believe in political violence, but we do believe in civility.""

Apparently they believe in "civility" which is news to me.

This from a guy who called out the UK on freedom of speech.

JD Vance calls out UK’s ‘modern dystopia’ amid ‘sad decline’ in freedom of speech

Essentially the right want to control speech if they don't like it, and make it free if they do. Kind of fascist to me.
The 1st Amendment protects free speech from Government intervention. Guess who is curtailing free speech in the UK ?

Shall I tell you why?

Because a President, or Vice President, shouldn't be able to say whatever they want to say. They should have limits and they should be able to control those limits. Supposedly these are the best people we could find to run the country, rather than a bunch of eejits who say whatever the first thing that comes into their heads.

So, I'm making an example. Should a President be able to say "go kill someone"? No. They should not.

So where's the limit? Should a President or VP be going around telling employers to fire people for insulting a guy they liked? No, they should not.
You certainly are including Joe and Kamala in this conversation. Progs need to reign in their venom Also perhaps the FCC needs to be involved in our TV broadcasting standards.

Yeah, I thought that was what we were both doing, seeing as you spoke about the 1st Amendment and the UK in the same paragraph.
You mentioned free speech and the UK. In the US the 1st Amendment is the guideline and that states that the Government can not pass laws that limit speech. In the UK the Government is limiting speech.

The Republican benefit MASSIVELY from the current system.
Do they? What about the states with a predominantly liberal votership? Those states are heavily gerrymandered in favor of the Democrats. Some states have no Republican representation in the House or Senate.

The last time a Republican become President for the first time with more votes than their opponent was in the 1980s. The Republicans haven't had a majority of the votes in the previous three Senate races for 20 something years.
The lack of PR has nothing to do with it. Blue states still voted blue, with a couple of exceptions. Voter sentiment was turned against the left this cycle.

The right is now doing the exact same thing (for different reasons) that Lefty has been doing for 5 years. Lefty stifled free speech when it came to questioning the 2020 election and questioning the useless masks and covid 19 vaccines. Lefty used his media friends to quiet conservatives on Twitter and Facebook. Then Mr. Musk bought Twitter and Lefty can't get away with it any longer.

This time the issue is different, and we need to be careful about wholesale firings of people. Anyone who advocates violence, YES. But distasteful speech about Charlie's assassination - not necessarily.

"I will demand their firing, defunding, and license revocation," said Florida congressman Randy Fine in a post on X on Sunday, as he called for such people to "be thrown out of civil society".

This would incorrect and would represent harrassment and persecution.
For clarity, he was talking about government workers, teachers, Healthcare workers etc. Not just average people.

Now, I agree that its inappropriate for a representative to be involved (unless it is a government worker), but, again, it doesn't change what i said. These are leftist policies that are being used against them. They said speech has consequences, this is the action they themselves championed.

I'm quite sure I haven't been giving my opinion on whether this should be law or not.

I'm quite sure I'm attacking Vance for being a total hypocrite.

Im not suggesting it should be law. Im talking about the lefts "speech has consequences" part

He said report them to their employers. The employers can choose what to do, if anything, from there. He didn’t say to report them to law enforcement for them to be arrested. That is what is happening in the UK. Quite a bit different.
