Just hours before he is scheduled to speak about the Iran war in an address this evening in Washington, President Trump said he no longer cares about the enriched uranium that Tehran still possesses because it is buried deep underground, as he continued to offer conflicting signals about how soon the war could end.

“That’s so far underground, I don’t care about that,” he said in a Reuters interview, referring to Iran’s stockpile of uranium, which was largely buried after the June 2025 strikes. His comment was sharply at odds with his argument that a main goal of the war was to prevent Iran from being able to produce an atomic bomb.

An "ounce of prevention" would have been letting the Obama arms limitation treaty run. What Trump is currently demanding is that Iran go back to honouring the Agreement he tore up.

An "ounce of prevention" would have been to accept the deal that Iran offered the day before Trump attacked Iran.

An "ounce of prevention" would have been too make a clear plan for this war, and then go to Congress to get authorization to start it.

Just launching a willy nilly attack to prevent something you have no authority to do, while rejecting all of good advice you have been given, isn't an "ounce of prevention", it's the definition of a toddler who wants to play with his army toy, and he's gonna do it whether the rest of the world watches in horror.
