Then the company will eventually go out of business.
Verizon's not going out of business because of this, but I've yet to meet an HC supporter who understands how this bill will blow up costs.
When Obamabots chant "yes, we can!", they're not referring to their ability to pass an economics exam.
1. Initially, because a subsidy companies recieve to help cover Rx coverage for their retirees, costs will go up. But according to the affected companies, this is a one time expense.
2. Once the 30-odd million uninsured are added, costs will go up. (This one will be countered to some degree (and I don't know how much) by insured people no longer having to pay premiums to cover the medical costs for the uninsured).
3. As we transitiion from 'fee for service' to (for lack of a better phrase) a 'whole care' fee, costs are expected to fall.
There are two ways the cost will increase and two ways money should be saved.
Now, lets see how smart you are.
Do you know any additional ways cost will go up? And do you have a clue as to how this will help to reduce the deficit over time?
See, you're worried about the increase. To me, the attraction of this bill (once all of the boondogle deals are removed) is it's ability to positively impact the deficit over the long term. And it puts us on a track to have options for how healthcare and insurance will look in the future. PS.... It's no secret here that I was an advocate for a single payer system.
