Didn't you say he could just not open the the certified votes of a state and send it back to the states. Neither the Constitution nor the statute gives him that authority.

Actually the amended version makes it absolutely clear, the VP has to open up certificates, even if they are obviously phony. He has to present them to congress, and congress decides what to do with them.

Meaning, any judgement on the validity of the certificates is done by congress, not by the VP.

So you'd like to see the Jan 6th case in DC expedited and concluded before we go to the polls? Because he was arrested and is charged with attempting to overturn the free and fair 2020 election with fraudulent and forged documents. His VP has said that he was demanding that as President of the Senate, he should toss out the votes of several states and substitute the forged ones.
