Not surprisingly, Obama nailed it.

Obama enabled Iran to be as much of a threat and sponsor of terrorism by proxies as they are now, or as much as they were at the beginning of this thing, anyway.
He gave them money to do it, even. :rolleyes-41:
But under JCPOA Iran wasn't going to make a nuclear weapon.

And the deal had sunset clauses because we expected that three presidential terms later, one of them would have come up with something better.

After trump's ill-fated, reckless decision to withdraw from the JCPOA, eventually causing this war, he said he would negotiate a better deal. He failed. With the US imposing heavy economic sanctions on Iran, the offer of lifting sanctions being what brought it to the negotiating table in the first place, it announced it would withdraw from the agreement on May 8, 2019. Exactly 1 year after Don essentially killed it.

In response, Obama made a prediction.

Trump says U.S. pulling out of ‘rotten’ nuclear deal

The move makes good on Trump’s insistence that the deal was too generous, allowing Iran to keep a mostly dormant nuclear program that Trump said could quickly produce a nuclear bomb once the deal’s provisions expire in the middle of the next decade.

But it further strains relations with key European allies, who have spent months urging Trump to sustain the agreement. It also came over the opposition of China and Russia, which were also parties to the 2015 deal.

And it drew an unusual public rebuke from former President Barack Obama himself, who invoked the specter of military conflict.

“Without the [Iran deal], the United States could eventually be left with a losing choice between a nuclear-armed Iran or another war in the Middle East,” Obama said in a lengthy statement.

Many former Obama administration officials suspect that Trump’s decision was, in part personal — that he was motivated by a desire to gut Obama’s foreign policy legacy.
Obama aides, including former Secretary of State John Kerry, spent years pushing sanctions and hundreds of hours painstakingly negotiating the deal over some 18 months, and Trump’s decision left some of them dejected.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, meanwhile, said he had ordered his foreign minister to begin negotiating with other countries to salvage the deal, according to The Associated Press. He added that if those talks fail, Iran will once against enrich uranium “more than before … in the next weeks.”

But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu — a vociferous critic of the deal who calls Iran an existential threat to his country — praised Trump’s “bold decision.”

Naturally, trump apologists have made all manner of factually incorrect allegations about the agreement made in 2015 designed to stop Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. They amount to nothing more than a parroting of trump's lies about the adequacy of the JCPOA. Ultimately, Obama's comments following the withdrawal have proven to be prescient. So too Hillary's comments about trump's lack of fitness to lead the nation. If only we had listened.
I dont know why you think the JCPOA being in place would have stopped Israel from wanting to attack Iran..

Let's not forget about the other countries involved in the agreement. Every one of them was satisfied Iran was in compliance based on the IAEA inspections.
The JCPOA was Iran's ticket back into their status as the world number one Terrorist Organization. The IAEA had to give Iran NOTICE of upcoming inspections and under no circumstances could they conduct unannounced inspections. Iran got exactly what they wanted including the many billions of RIGHTFULLY FROZEN ASSETS.

So. This only covered what Iran declared sites. It did not guarantee detection of covert enrichment activities at undeclared sites, hidden centrifuge cascades, or parallel programs. The agreement did not provide immediate or unrestricted access to military or suspicious non-declared sites., The JCPOA did not give the IAEA full visibility into Iran's total centrifuge inventory or manufacturing.

click here not a tech difficulty.
An inspection of Iran's power grid, would point us to any clandestine enrichment sites.

Can’t enrich uranium without uranium and we monitored all their mines too.

Hidden centrifuge cascades is not realistic.

Well actually under the NPT they weren't suppose to make a nuclear weapon....but of course they have been violating that repeatedly for decades now.

It didn't end for all the other countries, Simp. So you just admitted they violated the deal.

:oops8:
There was no deal.
In fact Iran complied with the deal for an entire year after Trump broke the deal.
After that, they were no longer constrained.

Why were they developing one in the first place AND funding proxies to attack US?

Khamenei banned nuclear weapons development, military cleric says

Iran’s Supreme Leader has forbidden the development of nuclear weapons, the head of Armed Forces Judiciary said a day after President Donald Trump’s inauguration, sounding a conciliatory note as Tehran explores talks to ease sanctions.

“The late Imam Khomeini did not allow the use of chemical weapons or any illegal and unconventional weapons, even against enemy forces,” Ahmadreza Pourkhaghan said, referring to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s predecessor and the Islamic Republic's founder, Rouhollah Khomeini.

“It is based on this doctrine that the Supreme Leader does not permit the armed forces of the Islamic Republic to develop nuclear weapons,” Pourkhaghan added in a speech in Tehran.

You just keep giving us more examples of why it was stupid to pull out of the JCPOA.

Trump made everything worse.
The JCPOA has nothing to do with the NPT.

The NPT is actually a legally binding agreement, the JCPOA was not, try and stay focused on the things that matter....and stop lying about how we could inspect their uranium mines.

All you do, is lie

I dont know why you think the JCPOA being in place would have stopped Israel from wanting to attack Iran..
I wouldn't stop Israel from attacking.
But it would remove an important justification.

Hidden centrifuge cascades is not realistic.

You can't ultimately hide a large number of centrifuges because of the amount of power they consume.

Modern gas centrifuges for uranium enrichment are highly energy-efficient, using roughly 50 KWh of electricity per Separative Work Unit (SWU). This is 95% less energy than older gaseous diffusion methods. While individual machine power consumption varies by size, modern facilities require massive amounts of power to run thousands of centrifuges at high speeds.

Well if Khamenei said it…

No country would ever allow unfettered access to all military sites and it’s not reasonable to think they could hide an enrichment program.

Not to mention they hacked locked down their uranium supply
