By a 23-24 vote, the Republican-dominated Senate failed House Bill 1491 on Monday. The proposal sponsored by Rep. LaurieBeth Hager, D-Fargo, would have dedicated $6 million over the next two school years to cover K-12 students' lunch costs if their family income is less than double the federal poverty level. The House approved the bill last month.

As usual, the cruelty is the point.

So, kids who grow up with the wrong parents just get to suffer in North Dakota.... nothing says BASTARDS more than this.

Let their parents make their kids lunch. Bread and some bologna doesn't cost much.

As usual the devil is likely in the details. Those laws never come by themselves there's always something poisonous in the writ. Probably the same thing with this one.

Food? OK. What about having nice clothes? Should the state provide that? What about physicals, inoculations, educational toys?

Dang! Why can't we just say, "Fuck it!" and implement socialism. It worked out great for the Soviet Union. It's working well in Cuba and North Korea. Venezuela is thriving!

Vote for Biden, if that's the way you feel.

I'm guessing we're not hearing all of it. I'm sure an examination of the bill will show poison pills.

I can't be positive but I'll bet a ha'penny on it.

Nothing like that was mentioned, feel free to post anything you can find for us.

$5-10.00 or so, right? That's not much money to me and you, but for someone who has none it's a lot.
Then they should get a job and save up to buy a shotgun or deer rifle. Then they could go to a free hunting refuge and kill wild game for food to put in their kids lunch box. Simple solution.

Several good points are made there by the Republicans. It is parent's responsibility to feed their kids.
