No more pennies will be minted

Dollar coins. Cheaper overall than $1 bills due to the MUCH longer life in circulation. (20+ years versus 6-10 months.)
They tried that already. Problem was they didn't get rid of the paper dollar.

except no one has ever liked the coins they make as dollars. I used to trade 20 dollars for 20 dollar coins every payday as a marine the businesses didn't like to take them
That's because the $1 bill is still used. Eliminate it, and people will use $1 cois.

not 70+!
I use a 2% CC 99% of the time and only use cash if the system is down which is not often.
I don't use electronic transfer, I have not wrote a check in decades

I don't care to come home with a pocket full of change, store it, wrap it and take it to the bank

that said the penny is historic but I don't really need it for legal tender, as noted if they make proof sets
I can enjoy the penny all nice and new
Sounds great!

under 30 using venmo, paypay or crypto but not the older generation

I doubt grandma knows what electronic money is........maybe funny money like monopoly
Ever heard of a debit card?

My 2 cents is this is a great idea.

I do think we should introduce a 3 dollar bill with Obama on it. :D

I would because I keep a few real Buffalo nickels around to rub spots of rust off of guns without hurting the finish. ;)
Learn something new every day. I wasn't aware the buffalo nickel had a different composition until now. Must be the reduction in the amount of copper from 75% to 56% and replacing the nickel with silver and manganese. Thanks for the lesson.

Another piece of wasteful spending ended. Subsidizing production of the penny was stupid. This was long past due.
