No more pennies will be minted

.

Not controversial at all ... We should get rid of all the shit that costs us more than it provides ... :auiqs.jpg:

.

We know how to do that. The only issue is if anyone actually wants to put in the effort.

That’s been the plan for quite a while under both parties. The nickel is next.
.

Shit ... Let's go to Single Payer Healthcare ... How close are you to the average life expectancy?
I mean I have a good stretch left and can afford to retire in Barbados ... Good Luck ... :auiqs.jpg:

.01 or .02, round down to .00; .03 or .04 round up to .05. It all averages out.
I doubt any of that will happen with just ending penny production anytime soon. It might accelerate merchants no longer accepting cash, which is already increasingly occurring.

I mentioned that earlier in the thread ... And truly hate the idea.

As one of the weird people who still does the majority of my transactions in cash, many people ask me why.
I'm not a luddite, not scared of change or technology ... But every time you make a financial transaction using other methods ...
You volunteer or surrender valuable information that is no longer under your control.

Credit card companies can sell composite data (not necessarily your personal info) to marketing agencies ...
And they're not going to give you a slice of that pie ... Although you gave them all the raw materials.

There's a record of everything you bought ... And if anyone ever does a forensic review, then you are subject to their interpretations.
Lord knows what they are going to make out of what you bought ... When you could have just been shopping for a camping trip.

Then folks whining about access to their data ... Stop fricken giving your data away every time you want a soft drink.
They are worried about Elon Musk ... When they just gave their information to someone working for minimum wage ...
And might not have graduated high school.

They started putting machines in convenience stores here ... That handle the transactions, the cash and make the change ...
And the cashier just points at the machine when you get to the checkout counter.

I am not scared about protecting my data and personal information ...
I tend not to post it in the wall and put it other people's hands if I don't have to.

That is illegal in the states the vendor has to accept all legal tender.

One used to think so. Seems that is no longer the case. Many places are no longer accepting cash.
.

They tried that shit with me at Pizza Hut ... Didn't take them long to walk it back and take my cash.
The manager had to make change out of their pocket ... But my business was more important than their issues or policies.

Stand your ground ... And be willing to do without ...
And make sure they know you will toss them to the curb ... Forever, if they get stupid and forget you are the customer ...

Let them know that also means Taco Bell, Kentucky Fried Chicken ...
And anything else owned by Pepsi and Yum.

not 70+!
I use a 2% CC 99% of the time and only use cash if the system is down which is not often.
I don't use electronic transfer, I have not wrote a check in decades

I don't care to come home with a pocket full of change, store it, wrap it and take it to the bank

that said the penny is historic but I don't really need it for legal tender, as noted if they make proof sets
I can enjoy the penny all nice and new
,

it isnt always about you

R's have control of both houses so if it's going to go through now is the time

it's kinda silly, 100M a year for the government is........well pocket change

they can blow that over a weekend yet all the drama over the penny
Is that how you approach your personal finances?

I used to enjoy going to Independent baseball games not far from me. I haven't gone since they went cashless. They say you can go to the gift shop and buy a card with your cash to use to buy food and whatnot but that means you have to spend the amount on the card when maybe all I wanted was a Coke.

That's true and I have encountered the same crap in all kinds of venues.
We need to figure how to wake people up and start them thinking about what they are doing.

Here's a tip ... If you ever go to a store and they ask you for an email address or phone number ...
Then refuse to complete the transaction if you don't give them one ... Here's what you say ...
"Use yours ... And I promise you I won't be brokenhearted if I don't get an email or phone call from you" ... :auiqs.jpg:

No, they can just deny you the transaction itself.

"I want to buy this candy bar, but I only have cash."
"Then I disagree to sell you the candy bar. No contract. Now leave or I shall taunt thee about thine ancestors!"

I don't think any of my kids even have cash. I know the wife almost never has cash.

It isn't going to happen sadly.

I've don't know that I've ever had one refuse to complete the transaction but if they press I just give them our old number we haven't had in years or just make up a fake email on the spot. "Blueisgreen@yahoo. Then I hope no one actually has that. LOL
