We just use nickels as the lowest denomination. When given change as taxes can make the total value in the pennies the cashier just rounds up or down. Stores usually price their products in such a way that with taxes its a round number to a.0 or 5 as the final denominator.

Not worth it. The high figures they gave for making the penny were probably based on the old formula. It's just another scam to make more money off the public. Watch what happens next !

I think the democrats will bring the penny back when they get back in office. It's a little bit racist for Trump's administration to remove the penny with it being brownish/copper and Lincoln having split from the republican party.

After all it costs way more money to make the nickel and the dime, yet they see no need to remove either. The republicans could have scaled back the minting of the penny but NOT get rid of it all together. That's a very bad idea.
