Movie's Based on True Story

Uhmm..the army did send a guy to call the 3rd brother back before the whole bloodline got wiped out.
:dunno:
More than 1 time back then. Things like that did happen.
You are full of shit. The movie was based on the Sullivan brothers who all 5 died on the USS Juneau. The Private Ryan story was made up. Do some research.

Kinda sorta............

"Saving Private Ryan" is not a true story, but it is inspired by the real-life experiences of the Niland brothers, who lost three of their four siblings during World War II. The film's plot, which involves a mission to rescue the last surviving brother, is fictionalized, although it reflects the real Sole Survivor Policy that was enacted to protect families from losing all their sons in combat.

No. That is incorrect. The movie came about because of the Sullivan brothers. The movie info clearly states this.

Writer Robert Rodat first came up with the film's story in 1994, when he saw a monument dedicated to four sons of Agnes Allison of Port Carbon, PA. The brothers were killed in the American Civil War. Rodat decided to write a similar story set during World War II. The script was submitted to producer Mark Gordon, who then handed it to Tom Hanks. It was finally given to Steven Spielberg, who decided to direct. The film's premise is very loosely based on the real-life case of the Niland brothers.

Inspired by the true story of the Niland brothers. Sgt. Frederick "Fritz" Niland was in the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Div. "Band of Brothers (2001)," produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, told the story of another 101st Airborne unit, Easy Company of the 506th PIR, whose member Sgt. Warren "Skip" Muck was best friends with Niland back home in Tonawanda, NY.

In the movie, the story of the Sullivan brothers is referenced, probably because the story of the Niland brothers had yet to be revealed.

Ryan and his three brothers initially enlisted in the same unit; they were split between different units as a result of the fate of the Sullivan brothers, who all died aboard the cruiser USS Juneau. While James, the youngest, became a paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division, Sean remained with the 29th Infantry Division (killed on D-Day at Omaha Beach); Peter went to the 4th Infantry Division (killed on D-Day at Utah Beach); and Daniel who went to an unnamed infantry unit (possibly Task Force Tornado, killed a week prior to D-Day in New Guinea).

Sorry, they got it wrong. There are entire shows about the Sullivans and how they were the inspiration for the movie. I just watched a Fox Nation special where they found the USS Juneau where it sank and told the story of the 5 brothers.

The more I look into it, the more I am thinking they are intertwined.

The Sullivan brothers tragedy is what lead to the Sole Survivor policy in the military.......and because of that policy is why they had to 'Save Private Ryan' so in effect the movie is about both

D-Day was in 1945. The policy was enacted in 1948, 3 years after the war ended. The story is pure fiction.

How did it turn out?

I think in the book it tells of his frustration in not finding small game... he did kill a couple of Rabbits but they have little fat and he kept losing weight... he thought that was why... I think it was potato flower seeds... that did him in...

What movie was this again? I got lost here.
