So this movie in its descriptions seems to be a remake of a Deep Impact (1998) which had Robert Duvall, and Tea Leoni as a plucky reporter and Morgan Freeman as The President:
I really liked that one, even though I can't stand Tea Leoni for some reason. Tea Leoni, trying to dig up dirt on President Morgan Freeman, comes across news that they Earth will be destroyed by a comet unless mankind works together to break up or deflect the comet. Morgan was great as always, as the president trying to keep the reporter from causing a panic while cooly guiding the Earth through the crises and its aftermath.
"Don't Look Up" has exactly the same premise. But this time, it is 2021. The world is run by post-baby boomers.
So the president is too busy worrying about the optics of her (Meryl Streep, of course) latest Supreme Court nominee being outed, first as a nude art model, and then as a softcore porn actor, the scientists are to busy worrying about their mood-altering medications, and the media is too occupied with Kardasian-like celebrities to pay attention to the fact that the Earth has a 99.87 percent of an extinction level event, of we don't do something to stop it.
I recommend it. Two Thumbs up!
