The comet is an analogy for climate change and the film is a satire of government and media indifference to the climate crisis.

World opinion is divided among those who demand destruction of the comet, those who decry alarmism and believe that mining the comet will create jobs, and those who deny that the comet even exists.

I haven't seen this and I won't see it. My brother says it's frustrating to see how stupid society is. How idiots like you first deny the comet is coming, then you want to argue to mine it for all it's precious minerals. And when your mission fails, we are all dead.
