Bingo. And what kind of spying are the Chinese going to get out of this app? People liking stupid dances or trends? Recipes? Life hacks? Fitness influencers who tell you how to work out? Amateur porn stars that charge lonely men $X.99 to subscribe to their..."wares"? LOL Doesn't seem a very good way of gathering information.
Disclaimer. I know nothing of Tik-Tok.![]()
What kind of spying do you think the Chinese could get out of such an app? Not much. It's more about viewing behavior and people behavior.
Spying isn't the worry. The info that TikTok collects is mostly pointless. Where it's dangerous is the ability to control what people say.
Say for example someone posts a video about the Tiananmen Square thing. TikTok will make sure hardly anyone sees it. If someone makes a video about China being bad, TikTok will make sure hardly anyone will see it. That's the influence they have. That's far worse.
