That sucks.
It is what it is. I got an all expense paid cruise of the far east, multiple stops in Oahu, a golden shellback certificate that hangs on the wall to this day, uncountable hangovers, bang bang good times in the Philippines (before incurable diseases), and the old GI bill all before I was 21. The good comes with the bad.

#1 He didn't "panic", if he had he'd have empitied his magazine into the rioters. Instead, one controlled shot center mass to the only rioter breaching the barricade.

#2 The violent rioters were not "unarmed" (meaning not carrying weapons), the video showed them using melee weapons, so use of "unarmed" is indisengenious since some were carrying improvised weapons. Did they have firearms? No. Where some carrying weapons that they had demonstrated a willingness to use? Yes.

He pulled the trigger accidentally! Being in the Navy, you probably have zero experience with handguns. All of my real experience came after my service. There was no situation where he was authorized to use deadly force, which is why he fucked up! He should be charged with manslaughter at a minimum,

BTW, either your spellcheck is malfunctioning or you are an idiot. Don't use big words that you don't know how to spell. I'm going with the latter! To do otherwise would be disingenuous. :abgg2q.jpg:

Must really piss you off that...

He was cleared in the shooting by Capitol Police review.

He was cleared by Federal authorities for the shoot.

He will never be charged with a crime (because it's not a crime to use leathel force when presented with a clear and present danger).

He will never see the inside of a courtroom as a criminal defendant.

He will never see the inside of a civil courtroom either because the Trump Administration just paid off the family with $5,000,000 to keep the case from going to civil trial. They didn't want J6 rioters being all over the news going into the mid-terms. Trump supporters (you know all the signs and red MAGA hats) attacking Congress wouldn't look good.

And finally, that he was promoted from Lieutenant to Captain.

WW
Fox guarding the henhouse? Blue wall?

What was the clear and present danger to an armed police officer? If you run towards a cop on the street, unarmed, can he just shoot you?

That is called settling because the Biden administration would have lost and we would have had to pay anyway!

All part of the Biden coverup. He was previously disciplined for losing his weapon.

You need some serious help with your TDS there Chief!

Hundreds of MAGA white trash trying to come through that door, mob him, and kill him.....you hopeless imbecile.

When I enlisted you could be an E4 right out of boot if you signed for 6 and were in a technical rating. We had several pass through during my active duty, none were worth piss.
You were promoted to E-4 on completion of your initial training, not boot camp. That was my case and those of several high school buddies who also joined the Navy. I was promoted after I had been in 9 months. At the time, the other services had no such program. I was in the Navy's nuclear field. I had a friend in Advanced Electronics who as a Guided Missile Tech.

I appreciate your evaluation of me and my friends. Let me guess! E-1 through boot camp and first 9 months? Jealousy is such an ugly shade of green!

E-4 promotion is usually automatic. It's based on Time is Service and Time in Grade.

E-5 is where promotion points and promotion boards come into play.

Here's a screenshot of the current promotion point cut off list.

My old MOS, which was 97B when I was in but is now 35L, is still critically short 25 years later.

The red circle at the bottom? No slots available. Nobody is getting promoted in that MOS.

Something has definitely changed since I was in. Pretty sure the MINIMUM cut off for promotion was like 600 points back then.

That's the Army. Different services promote differently.

My brother was enlisted and made E-6 in the minimum amount of time in the Navy for his AW rating, but they did not promote anyone to E-7 in his rating. He switched to an officer program and became an Ensign as a Surface Warfare officer.

It's all changed, ASVAB scores have changed, promotion points have changed, MOS classification has changed (I was a 68F, which no longer exists, don't know what it is now)
68F is a Physical therapy specialist and still exists.

I worked in Army recruiting for 4 years.

I was a screamin seaman on completion of A School, the same school that had those dudes with their baby crows that completed boot the same week as I did. Maybe Sonar was more prized in '77 than AE.

First ship was homeported in Pearl, went to Adak, Philippines, Bangkok, Japan, Hong Kong, got shellback certificate on trip to Jakarta. spent so long there, I actually got tired of Waikiki.

It took a lot more money than we made to enjoy time there.

HP in San Diego. Did 3 RIMPAC exercises so 3 Pearl stops for that, to and from WestPac, so a stop going and coming.
Pearl, Fiji, Aukland, Sydney, Townsville, Subic, Subic, Pusan, Chinhae, Subic, Hong Kong, Yokohama, Guam, Pearl, SD

Anywho, we are getting away from the purpose of the OP.

Holy shit

It took her FOUR YEARS to reach E-4 (that’s pretty long folks) and she never rose above that rank even though she was in for over 12 years and deployed numerous times

She was a serious **** up and her record after she got out (stalking and using her vehicle to assault an ex of her husband) illustrates that

A full military honors funeral is a ceremony that expresses the nation's gratitude for an eligible veteran's service and sacrifice, typically including a uniformed military detail, the playing of Taps, and the folding and presentation of a U.S. burial flag. While eligibility is reserved for those who served honorably, the presence of additional elements like a rifle squad, pallbearers, or a military band is determined by factors such as the deceased's rank, their circumstances of death, and mission-dependent availability, ensuring a dignified and respectful farewell
I know how those are, I've been to more than I can remember. What I was attempting to say is I am not privy to what is planned for her, she is entitled to a burial and ceremony, no matter what her rank. Retirees is a little different than non-retirees. More than that should not be authorized, keep her service separate from the bullshit posturizing.

Simple poll.

Do you support the Trump Administration decision to extend military honors to Ashley Babbitt's family?

Please include a post with Branch, Approximate Period of Service, and Status.

Don't feel strongly enough about it to vote in the poll. However, I believe in fairness and a one tiered justice system. Democrats have erected statues to known criminals in the name of having something to have violent protests for so I can't come out against this. If a black person was shot and killed by law enforcement in a protest honoring the criminal George Floyd, law enforcement would have been up on charges and the black person honored as the victim of excessive police brutality. I believe in a one tiered justice system so the same thing should happen to both sides.

That “piled up furniture” was a police barricade that she was breaching in the middle of a violent riot INSIDE the Capitol building
no shit sherlock... and she had to crawl over it.... is this too much for you to understand? the hall was 15 feet wide.... she was unarmed.... non lethal methods were available... Byrd's life was not being threatened..... and the FACT.... your boy was never questioned by any authority about that day...

Tell us Lesh , who authorized the use of lethal force that day?

Lt. Michael Byrd was not interviewed by law enforcement investigators (MPD, FBI, or DOJ) regarding the Ashli Babbitt shooting, according to internal records and multiple news reports. His only public statements came later in the NBC interview, not as part of the investigative process.

This is what makes her a hero to MAGA.

She is just like them, only martyred.

How many before armed capital police on her side of the door were kneeling beside her and trying to administer 1st aid? Watch the video.

Then explain why Byrd was reasonably scared enough to use deadly force, but the armed police outside the protection of the door, and face to face with the protesters, did not.

Tell me about it. Due to all those automatic E4s I talked about in my previous post, we called them push button 3rd classes, though I never scored below 145 on a 150 point advancement exam. Passed but not advanced, 3X, there were no openings, I developed a less than stellar attitude.
Same, they wanted me to re-up for E5. I declined.

Nothing honorable about it. The most disgusting, dishonorable criminal to ever inhabit the White House giving political cover to an insurrectionist, that committed an act of treason.

That's it, plain and simple.
