Washington himself took strong measures. During the Whiskey Rebellion, Washington took strong action because he believed that the protestors posed a grave threat to the country. He declared martial law and ordered troops to confront the protestors which he personally led.

That's all fine and good, where I have a problem is that there is no clear threat with this virus. Half the people dead from it were old crusties in nursing homes. Most of the rest are in around Manhattan and Long Island. This virus only lives hours or days without a new host. They should have just totally locked the region down for a couple weeks and crushed it. Our gov has no plan in place. For the rest of us, the risk is minor and a PERSONAL CHOICE. 99.6% of the people never even get symptoms. THIS IS NOT A PANDEMIC. The government was free to issue guidelines and requests for OUR presumed safety, but arresting people, threatening people, harrassing people, ******* with their licenses and insurance and costing them their life's work, savings, loss of job, business, no food, denied healthcare, etc., AT THE THREAT OF A GUN goes beyond the pale.
