“Melania” Movie Humiliates Critics and Leftists With Historic Box Office

The box office numbers show that it wasn’t a flop

Try again
If it is making just over $8 million on its opening weekend, and it cost $75 million to make and advertise (based on reports I've seen, I don't know if that's an accurate number or not), it's almost certainly going to be a flop. The usual numbers thrown around for a movie to break even is it needs to make 2-2.5 times its production budget. If Melania cost $40 million in production, and it's making $8 million on opening weekend, it seems vanishingly unlikely it will be able to hit $80-100 million. So, if the reports of the cost are close to accurate, this movie certainly is looking like a flop.

Oh, and Melania Trump supposedly doesn't consider this film to be a documentary.

She might not but the movie industry does

This is the highest of any doc in a decade

Massive box office hit for the studio

A movie that looks as if it's going to lose a huge amount of money is a "box office hit"?

That's not the way studios normally measure success, I don't think. ;)

I posted this in another thread but I went to the movies last night to see something else. Curiously I checked the seats available for Melania and was surprised there were 20 seats sold. I poked my head inside that theater and saw that only 4 seats were actually occupied. I believe companies are buying tickets and not using them. Not sure how else you can explain 16 of 20 no shows for the movie?
