Consider this: two republican senators have already said they won’t vote before the election and expressed support for the next president to do it. Romney may follow their lead. Republicans can only afford to lose 3 senators (when Pence’s tie breaker vote is factored in).

Good, we got it. Plus, if the nominee checks Mitt's boxes, he's in.

No, Collins and Murkowski didn't say they wouldn't vote , my guess Collins will vote.

I always get those two mixed up lol. The one in Maine is way behind in the polls so I think she might hold off to attract more voters.

Oh, yes he will have enough votes. Yet you wussies love to create false scenarios with your projection and faithlessness to the American founding precepts. *yawn*

I doubt there will be a vote before the election and few GOP senators will commit either way. Once the election is over, the GOP may be able to count on the short memory of the electorate and confirm someone between Nov. and Jan. It will be interesting to see what happens if they lose the Presidency, will they still go ahead with a confirmation or listen to the voice of the voters as they claim.

The President's nominee will be confirmed if the vote happens before the election.

If the blob loses re-election, and the vote hasn't taken place, you may well see some defections. If you lost your seat...what do you care. Your life in politics is probably over. If you won re-election, you have 6 years to balance the books.

Don't be too sure about it, McConnell and tramp will do it.
They have had the maj since 1970, they voted for abortion, but they do want rid of the ACA and deregulation, food stamps, Hud, love corporate greed, detests SS and Medicare, Medicaid and cling to the Evangelicals. Since they claim to be real constitutionalist , 4 have to go, it originally started out with 5 Supreme Court justices.
-----------------------------------------

For better or worse, the Constitution’s fate has been in the hands of a majority of Republican appointed justices since 1970 and that is not about to change anytime soon. How Roberts, who this term will complete the sixty-fourth consecutive year of having a Republican appointee in the Court’s middle seat, balances the competing forces in front of him will determine whether he succeeds on a personal and institutional level, or burns his and the Court’s reputation to the ground.

It's fair to assume that they'll pull out every stop they can think of, moral or not, legal or not, behind the scenes to get the votes.

This is what the GOP has been hoping for, for decades, generations. It's a seminal moment for the country, and they won't let it pass.

With the Democratic types generated, if they do, the swing Senators will be going home for good to work for whatever Corporation they have been working for all along. The good news is, they will openly be able to work for them and not have to lie about it anymore. But the "Power" will be gone and it's all about the Power.

He probably won't get the vote for the election regardless. He'll throw some hispanic or woman's name out there to say look at me being all inclusive and any vote will happen in november or december.

And he will fail. The Dems will fillibuster it until after Jan 21 if Rump loses or there is a change in the Senate ownership in Jan 2nd.

Mitch can always try to pull out the nuclear option.

Since the Republicans seem to be insistent on going back on what they said in '16, I think the Democrats should deny them a quorum. Also, I don't think Republicans in close races are going to be too happy about putting this particular millstone around their neck. After all, they already have the Trump ball and chain dragging them down.

Once again it’s time for a new SC justice and Americans think it’s important. Nothing could be more wrong.

The powers-that-be love this. They can further inflame Americans with their control of the MSM, government, academia, etc. In the end, it’s all about nothing. The primary goal of the SC is to maintain the status quo of the ultra wealthy and big corporations running the show.

So, if it’s dumb Joe or dumb Don who gets it done, it doesn’t really matter. Nothing will change.

LOL they will fold like a cheap lawn chair and vote. Lindsey Graham chairman of the Senate Judiciary committee just folded and announced that he's changed his mind. When Trump nominates a woman it's over, Dems are toast.
