That is not how it works. Redistricting only affects the House of Representatives. Other offices are not affected at all.

There are districts for congressional House of Representatives reps here. And separate districts for state senators. Separate districts for state representatives.

New Mexico has never had a Republican controlled legislature in its 113 year history. And it recently redistricted to make sure there will never ever will be. And also no Republican can be elected governor now or represent New Mexico in Congress.

Also no voter ID is allowed at any polling location. If you know somebody's birthday and address who is registered to vote, no matter how dead or mentally gone or in a coma, you can vote.

Voter registration can be done by anybody--on line, by mail, by signing or putting your X on the form somebody filled out for you or whatever. What safeguards are in place to ensure only citizen registrations will be accepted is anybody's guess.

Anybody can vote by mail who requests a ballot. There are no safeguards to ensure that only those legally entitled to use that ballot are the ones returning them.

If you vote in person, you do fill out a paper ballot. But it is then fed into an electronic machine for tabulation and we have no way to know if our vote was actually counted or counted in the way we marked it. The rules for a recount are so restrictive almost nobody qualifies for a recount and will be required to personally pay for it if one is done at a candidate's request.

Such is the world controlled by Democrats.

Pardon me but your ignorance is showing. The districts being redistricted are for the House of Representatives only. It is set in th US Constitution that state legislatures are responsible for rePportioning based on the census.

If you read my post, I wasn't referring to congressional districts in Texas. I was describing the situation in New Mexico. It was an illustration of gerrymandering in general and not any specific situation in another state.

New Mexico has so much to commend it but also so much to condemn it. We live here because we love the people, have family here, love the ambiance of the state, and because it is affordable for us to live here. We don't have to deal with earthquakes and very little in violent weather or weather extremes. Taxes are pretty reasonable compared to some other states.

We are a so-called 'sanctuary' state and I live in a sanctuary city, but my neighborhood is pretty safe and I don't venture into the parts of the city that aren't, mostly due to the mostly undocumented gangs and Mexican cartels that operate in our state.

So right now life is pretty good. But I have no illusions that we do not have a pretty much totalitarian government here and that could change on pretty much anybody's whim who controls that government.

Patriots are keenly aware that the U.S. government came perilously close to being the same. I am very certain that If President Trump and the GOP are unable to retain control until they can fully turn that around, we all will be in peril of totalitarianism.

I don't know what all the situation is with Texas and redistricting, but I sure hope they are able to keep their GOP majority for the same reason.

New Mexico is the ONLY failing blue state. The rest of the blue states are all at the TOP of the lists for income, education, wealth, and state income.

Texas is the only red state that isn’t a “taker” state and that’s because of oil revenues.

It’s at the bottom of every other list - health care is right at the bottom of the v list, as are voters’ rights.

Greg Abbott is now trying to gerrymander the state FURTHER, while thousand are suffering because of the floods.

Texas has had years to do flash flood mitigation in the state and did nothing after the last disaster.

Texas can’t keep the power on in either hot or cold spells.

But they can end voting in Texas.

New Mexico is the Anus of the Southwest.

It is an amazing state in many ways, much to commend it. But also much to condemn it because of its restrictive political system. The Democrats are in full and, unless something drastically changes, permanent control and don't seem to care that we're at or near the bottom of the good lists or at or near the top of the bad lists.
