I’m curious how this explosion could have taken place without any DEI involvement. Could it be that qualified people make mistakes? Nah...it has to be ethnicity right?

DEI inherently moves people forward in the hiring process due to some immutable characteristic. Any time that happens the question of whether a person with that characteristic was hired with a lack of qualification regardless of whether they are or are not qualified.

As a matter of government policy or law? No not that I'm aware of. Care to link up this policy or law which makes it advantages to be white? I was unaware that the US Government had passed affirmative action type laws for white people. I'm also unaware of any corporate entities which have policies to work to hire more white people. Again, link them up and prove me wrong. Are there individuals or companies who do so sans a such a policy? I'm sure there are. Just as there are companies who favor Black people or Asians or Hispanics or women or men or whatever.

The Government should not be discriminating against anyone for any reason that isn't a choice that person is making. What I mean by that is they shouldn't discriminate against a person who is white or black or male or female or whatever. They should be allowed to "discriminate" against someone who has 13 piercings in their face for a front facing job at X government agency just as an example. Piercing your face is a choice, and the choices you make in life have consequences.

I believe the majority of failed missions have been on the Starship side which isn't funded by taxpayers, but you know details like this don't matter when you have a political axe to grind.
