MAGA response to floods in Texas

Translation: You're right and I can't say anything to refute it, but rather than admit it, I'm going to obfuscate and hope you just go away because you're 10 times smarter than me on your worst day than I'll ever be on my best.
Yes, that's exactly it.

Just like with all events that disagree with the insane political views of the MAGA cult on science, this MAGA candidate labels the news from Texas on the catastrophic floods there as fake news. Really, what kind of sociopathic world view would lead one to label this tragedy as fake?

In case you really care or are just full of shit...

Thoughts and prayers. Rain doesn’t kill. People kill. In this case a bad forecast by people killed 40-50.

Problem is the NWS put out a flash flood warning for Hunt and Kerrville along the guadaloupe river at 1am. The camp flooded at 4am.

The NWS did their job.

So take your anti Trump bullshit and shove it up your ass.
That’s crazy. They forecasted light rain… then in the middle of the night they broadcasted ‘you’re all going to die now”. Great help.

Let’s not argue about whether they were effective. Let’s instead count the dead. That should be a good indication.

This is what conservativism has become, what it’s been for a very long time: a reprehensible cult that spreads disinformation, conspiracy theories, and lies.

Again we have a Leftist playing armchair expert and trying to point fingers at MAGA. This is a horrific tragedy and Camp Mystic has been there for 100 years with no event like this ever happening there. The river rose 26 FEET in 45 MINUTES and the flash flood struck at 4 am when everyone was sleeping.

Wow, that's a get out clause, isn't it?

An "armchair expert" huh?

No, I'm not an expert. HOWEVER I kind of expect kids to be able to go on summer camp and be SAFE.

So I asked myself "Why did these kids die?" And then I did some RESEARCH.

The research I found was that there was a weather warning out the day before, 16 hours BEFORE the last weather warning. I also found that this area has a history of flash floods.

Now, imagine what could have been done to prevent this? I'm thinking, weather warning comes, someone is in charge of making sure everyone knows there's a weather warning in these areas, and this person needs to call up, I don't know, the camps and tell them this is the situation.

But you take me trying to understand the situation, trying to find solutions as an "armchair expert" situation. Maybe it's just the sort of thing a parent would think about.

I went to one place last year by a river at the bottom of the mountains. The WHOLE village there was being knocked down because it was in flash flood risk area. That was someone being proactive about it.

A few years back my other half's parents' house went two or three meters under water, they live by a river, and they were given plenty of warning to get out.

I know it can be done. So I ask why it wasn't done here.

Your response, on the other hand, seems to suggest "**** it, nothing we can do about it, so let's stop people talking about it by attacking that person".

In Houston, 44% of NWS positions are vacant, due to Trump's budget cuts.

No. You never learn anything.

Fire is not a modern invention either. But somehow when it happens in a blue state, it becomes the government’s fault:

When it happens in a red state...it’s all part of God’s plan.
Yeah, when the DEMOCRAT government refuses to maintain firetrucks, hydrants, and empties reservoirs that are meant to fight fires, what else would you call it?

Dumbass.

Democrats and their faithful goldfish never let a tragedy go to waste.
Ah yes, don't talk about this issue, or we'll attack you for it.

When are people supposed to talk about implementing (and paying for) things that save lives? When does it ever become "appropriate" to do so? Never?

Oh look

"But as rescue teams are searching for the missing, Texas officials are facing scrutiny over their preparations and why residents and summer camps for children that are dotted along the river were not alerted sooner or told to evacuate."

Now the media has figured out someone dropped the ball BIG TIME.

1. At 1pm they forecast 5"-7" of rain
2. At 1 am they forecast flash flooding
3. At 3 am they reported flash flooding
4. At 4 am the river peaked at 23'

Part of the problem is that those areas always got flash flood warnings, this time was a 100-yr flood level.

Not in CA for sure.

Local officials elected not to install a flashflood warning system, presumably because it would actually cost money, and well, Texas is a cheapskate state. No worries though, ICE Barbie is down there combing the underbrush looking for people to deport. She might find a survivor. You never know.
