The catastrophic floods in Texas killed more than 100 people – including at least 28 children, most of them at a Christian summer camp that was devastated by last week’s disaster. Despite the horror, these children were not the first young Americans to have their futures destroyed by climate change. Nor will they be the last.
Though the White House has described the floods as “an act of God,” the disaster was not divine intervention, but part of a deadly chain of undeniable global climatic shifts that we are wholly unprepared for.

As an emergency health care worker, FEMA responder and proud woman of faith, I know this tragedy stems from years of climate denialism and reckless cuts to science, preparedness and infrastructure.

Cuts now being deepened under Donald Trump are harming an entire generation of American children. Kids are physically more vulnerable to climate change and its effects – they breathe more air, eat more food, and drink more water relative to their body size, making them more susceptible to pollution, heat and disease.

The New York Times previously reported that nearly two-thirds of calls to FEMA’s disaster assistance line went unanswered in the days following the flood after Noem failed to renew call center contracts. It took five days until after the disaster to reinstate the contracts because Noem needed to sign off on the contracts

And she, Trump and Abbott heaped praise upon each other on how they handled the disaster?

The Texas flood death toll has risen to at least 135 people, with 107 deaths in Kerr County and three people who remain missing.

If Kamala was president they'd be saying she's responsible for these deaths.

Obama was responsible for the BP Oil Spill? Well then Trump is responsible for half the lives lost in Texas and any natural disasters in red states is God punishing them for voting Republican.

And it turns out there is some truth to blaming Trump and Noem and Abbott. Slow response times. Cut funding. Failure to alert. Greg Abbotts fault too. The bucks stops with Trump. They spent a half hour praising themselves before they ever talked about the people who were still missing. Scum is what they are.

Notice if it's a red state Trump and Crusty Noem are all over it trying to show they are doing all they can. Photo ops don't save lives. Paying taxes to fund early warnings, not defunding fema, not creating MORE beurocrazy that slows the aid. Question every dollar. So worried there's waste fraud and abuse in Fema.
