Lions Rudely Ejected From Playoffs!

I thought Goff could have ran it in 1 or 2 plays earlier. But it was all or nothing due to click. Tough to try it i suppose. But he is big.

Don't forget Lions had another 4th qtr TD called back on Pass Interference knocking the DB out of the path? Was it the previous drive?

Hey it's tight in there? Where are you supposed to go? You can't run a sideways route? Usually its the other way around. The DB cant do anything.

We'll see tomorrow if I hear the talk shows. It sucks for DET. But they played pretty badly.

I think Pittsburgh had a TD called back too. These refs are getting too carried away. All football is anymore is
  • TV commercials one after the other (mostly selling cars).
  • Flags and penalties.
  • Slo-mo instant replay.
  • And sometimes they actually play football.

They had little offense in the first half and only possessed the ball for 3 plays for negative yardage in the 3rd quarter.

Was this on the same TD drive at the end of game? They called this TD no good also. DB slow and lost in traffic, got moving picked. Uh.....? Slow motion makes it look worse.

Ramsey embellished the other. Like it was so bad he almost got injured. I call BS, let them play.

Got a root for the OG QBs... Go Rodgers!...

St. BROWN was short of goal line anyway. And stopped on forward progress. Game was over before the lateral.

One Steeler TD was negated for PI but I thought it was ticky-tack, but the shove off on Ramsey in the video above I think you have to call PI on that, as I've seen PI called for much less reason.

IMO, no flag or penalty should be thrown unless:
  1. It was an egregious act clearly beyond the pale,
  2. It was in the area of play and likely affect the outcome/success of the play.
Too many penalties are thrown for stuff on the other side of the field that made no difference in the outcome.

Im close to agreement. But a "flop" by the other guy never gets called. It was not a hard shove. Ramsey drew the flag somewhat.

But like I said. He was short of goal line when he caught it and looked stopped on forward progress. So no matter.

Gosh dammmmeeet we've all seen 100X worse never called, but then everybody goes silent "if it's their team" or "aarron rodgers".

Any questionable or bad Call should not be more acceptable if it's your favorite team. FLOPPING HOSEBAGS!

DET was one of mine, but I am soured on them 2nd half 2025. I don't like em that much anymore. They are slipping badly.

GB deserved that win.

I just recalled--- the Steelers had a TD, it was a clear, clean TD, no question about it. Meantime, elsewhere in the end zone, a Pittsburgh TE was running the other way and a Lions defender ran into him as he turned and they collided by accident. The defender ran right into the Steeler's TE stomach. It was an unintended collision.

Referees nullified the TD and called it back for OPI on the Steeler TE.

I'm really getting S&T of referees calling dubious penalties on borderline actions which end up costing a team the game if not the whole season.

Used to be that it was an extraordinary thing to get a 15 yard penalty, now they hand out 15-yard penalties like they were PEZ.

Let the fricking players play! Players from the 1990s and earlier would call this sissy-ball. I can remember when players would scold receivers for catching the ball and running off the field to avoid a hit.

Back then, you kept moving forward until you were tackled or driven off the field by force.

100 years from now, they will have little mechanical robots for players, the lawyers will have utterly ruined the game.

They are a good team, but last night was pretty emblematic of their entire season.

A shame really. I've really enjoyed watching them these past four years and other than losing to SF in the NFC championship game, I thought they'd be in the Superbowl by now.

Oh well, next year maybe.

They still have one sharp uniform!

Neither call was Pass interference? The ball was not yet in the air. Maybe illegal contact? Bunch of BS. Let them play. Not add in more flopping like soccer.//

Again, DET gave up two 45yd TD runs un-touched around left end in the 4th quarter.

Also PITT got a miracle TD while laying on the ground caught a pass on handed when th DET guy was not paying attention (or injured?). Then quietly got up and ran it in.

You can't expect to win giving up that sort of stuff.

One could argue rigged on the last two calls. I'll venture out:

On the first call the DB was already 5yds behind WR. So one could call it a flop running into other Reciever intentionally in hopes if drawing a flag. Refs should stay out of it. Not deciding every game possible to continue the Aaron rogers soap opera. Game was over on the first TD, but leaving PITT some time.

Well, that final call, Offensive Pass Interference was the correct call.

He was a yard into the end zone when he pushed off the defender. I don't remember where the line of scrimmage was, but I think it was the 7?, 8 yard line?

It was clearly pass interference on the offensive.

However, what an outstanding heads up lay to lateral the ball as he was going down to Goff who took it into the end zone.

But I agree with you. The officitating this year is horrendeous and honestly, the partnership with gambling has had more calls go to protect the line in the betting book than real life play on the field.

Speaking as a long-time Lions fan, my team has been outplayed by good teams all year long. The OL was sub-par and so was the defense, and frankly I thought they were also out-coached several times. Injuries hurt their chances but most teams have suffered injuries and that does not excuse the poor execution out there at times. 1st and goal with 25 seconds to go and they got nothin. Gave up 2 45 yd rushing TDs in the 4th qtr, you ain't gonna beat good teams doing that.

He’s also wildly immobile. I’m not sure who’s less mobile. 40y/o AR or Goff.

Same drive. Steeles also had a TD taken away on an OPI.

TesLa intentionally ran into the DB. He lowers his shoulder. If WRs are just allowed to block DBs you could never stop an offense.

The talk shows will say “its never called” or that “it was a bad call in that spot” if that play isn’t OPI then the call on Washington earlier in the second half isn’t either and the lions are down 9 and not 5 and that play is moot anyway.

So the guy lowered his shoulder to run his route. That DB was already so far out of the play its a non-call. It's crowded in there.

Yeah right. Everyone wants to live and die by the rule book in the last 30sec to decide a game, but not even pay attention in the first half to ten times worse going on.

Ramsey flopped. Now it becomes soccer.

Like I said if WR are allowed to run pick routes which is what that was you can get 5 yds every play. You can’t defend it which is why it’s illegal.

Why would the rules be applied different in the last 30 aeconds of the game than they are in the first 30? If we just aren’t going to throw flags then DBs will just tackle WRs at the LoS.
Ramsey flopped. Now it becomes soccer.
That’s laughable. You might be able to quibble on the first one but the second one was textbook. It even if it was t he was stopped and driven back. His forward progress was stopped. Play dead.

//* I already said that maybe twice above on the second foul. It was over. Somev don't read whole threads always, understood.

I saw a few "Experts" on TV today agree with me on the first one. *//

coach Rex Ryan, who previously coached the Jets, strongly criticized the referees for the two offensive pass interference penalties that negated potential touchdowns for the Lions in their Week 16 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Ryan stated the penalty on rookie wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa was "dead-ass wrong" and an "awful call" that cost the Lions a win and likely a playoff spot.

//* I could go on and on...but games on. On mute. Sometimes I'm very wrong, I don't hear who or what.

I said Lions deserved to lose. Giving up two 4th qtr end runs '"untouched" for a TD? In a must win game?

The PITT TD while laying on the ground? Great play be PITT. All game they did not quit. DET seems way off *//
